I've been doing my family tree for several years now but have only recently started researching the Cranstons. I've found quite a few descendants back to early 1800s. Although I lived in Ireland for the first 25 years of my life (I've been in Australia since 1970) I never knew anything about this line of my father's family. His name was John Cranston Wilson. I remembered my mother telling me he was named after his mother, Fanny Cranston (1846 - abt 2002). Her father was Thomas Cranston (-1857). He was a farmer/linen trader from Moyer, Bailieborough, Co.Cavan. One of her sisters (Margaret) married a John Bartley in 1859. Quite a similar name to your Barkley.
