Someone wrote that a CRAIG descendant was BLACK DUTCH and referred to Holland (The Netherlands). The term "BLACK DUTCH" is an Americanism. It usually refers to a person of darker color than the average bear (I love Yogi). If you were to ask a German or Dutch individual in Europe what "BLACK DUTCH" means, they wouldn't know what you were talking about. It is a term that was developed in this country and has several meanings, but it often refers to someone who has Native-American roots or is associated with the Pennsylvania Dutch. The term is also associated with the Melungeons in the Appalachian Mountains and usually just refers to someone of mixed European and Native-American heritage. Ima J.
