I was born in Okfuskie County, specifically Okemah Oklahoma. The Renfroe family On my mothers side and Craig on my Fathers side, although My Craigs were predominately from around Braggs and Muscogee ok. My families Cherokee Blood lineage: Our earliest traceable ancestor so far is Ludovic Grant Born 1698 in Scotland, and died 1755, in Charleston South Carolina . Ludovic Grant was the Clan Chief of the Grant (also spelled Graunt) holdings in Scotland. After losing the the war in the Jacobite Rebellion,he was captured by the British and banished to the "New World". Ludovic arrived on the Savannah in the Carolinas and moved in with the Cherokees, his cousins all went to Boston and the Carribean. According to the Sir Alexander Cuming Journal of 1731, he with the aid of Ludovic Grant , convinced seven young Cherokees (Including future Chief Attakullakulla,The Little Carpenter) to visit England, and King George II. It was an attempt by the King to recruit the Cherokees to fight the French. In a statement recorded on page 301 of the Charlestown, South Carolina Probate Court , in the book of "1754-1758", in a sworn statement of January 12,1756, says"It is about 30 years since I went into the Cherokee Country where I have resided ever since, I speak their language". According to the Emmet Starr Journal of 1726, Ludovic Grant married an unknown woman of the Wolf Clan as his second wife. Ludovic Grant: Blood: Scottish. Christened April 12, 1702 Irvine Scotland. Child of Mary Grant and William Emory is (one of Four) Elizabeth Emory born 1748 Cherokee Nation East died unknown. Elizabeth Emory married her second husband John Rogers Sr. born 1755 died unknown. Blood: English. Occupation Trader. Note; John Rogers Sr. started the Rogers surname which include Chief Willian Charles Rogers, Diana( Rogers) Houston (General Sam Houstons wife) and Will Rogers. Child of Elizabeth Emory and John Rogers Sr. Was one of Four: Charles Rogers born 1774 died unknown Charles Rogers married Rachel Hughes born 1790 died after 1851 Note: Rachel Hughes is descended from a long line of famous Cherokees. Including NANYE-HI FIVEKILLER also known as Nancy Ward. Born 1738 in Chota, City of Refuge, North Carolina Cherokee Nation, now Tennesee. She died in Womankiller Ford, Cherokee Nation (now Polk County Tennesee) There was a tremendous amount of information written about Nancy ward. She is mentioned in Teddy Roosevelt's Book On The West, the Virginia State Papers, the South Carolina State Papers, In Mooneys Book and The Draper Collection. There is a chapter of the American Daughters Of The Revolution name after her in Tennesee and there is a Descendants of Nancy Ward Association in Oklahoma. As a child she was called "Wild Rose". She was later called Nanye`hi. This means; One who is with the Nunnehi (Spirit People) .After being lost and having a vision of the Nunnehi helping her through the night. In 1755 she was given the title "Ghi hau" or Beloved Woman, for her heriocs in battle. During the batle of Taliwa against the creeks, she was chewing the bullets her husband Kingfisher was using. He was shot and killed . She picked up his rifle and joined the battle. Still in her teens and the widowed mother of two children, when vaulted into the high office of Chieftainess. She was an Ambassador and peace Negotiator for her people. She brought the first Cattle into the Cherokee Nation. Nancy ward had a vision where she saw "a great line of our people marching on foot. Mothers with babies in their arms. Fathers with small children on their backs. Grandmothers and Grandfathers with large bundles on their backs. They were marching West, and the Unaka (white) soldiers were behind them. They left behind a trail of corpses-the weak the sick who could not survive the journey". This drean proved to be Prophetic. On December 29, 1835, thirteen years after her death, a "Removal Treaty" was signed. the Cherokee called this journey the "Yunna-Da-Ult-Sun-Yi " The Trail Where They Cried. The Trail Of Tears. Nancy Ward aka NANYE-HI FIVEKILLER was of the Wolf Clan. She lived in the Overhills Settlement They were called the Overhills People (Cherokee) She died in 1822. James Rogers married Mary(Polly) Sanders in 1865. She was born 1838 died 1877 Cherokee Roll# unknown. She was the daughter of Mitchell Sanders and Polly Overtaker.
