Surnames: Craig, Stewart, Keith Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4IQ.2ACEB/2341 Message Board Post: Since my discovery of the royal connection to the Craig line, some people have emailed me with questions as to how I found it. Here are links that will help prove the connection, as well as provide additional family information. Hope this helps some more. Michael ([email protected]) Muriella Keith is the wife of Robert Stewart, Prince of Scotland. That is as far back as this particular gencircles family tree goes, so I had to dig around the internet to find out who Robert's parents were. This is the link to Muriella Keith's page: http://www.gencircles.com/users/ulsterboyd1/1/data/31508 The line itself starts back with Elizabeth Lindsay, wife of William Craig. When you trace the Craig line back through Scotland, William Craig (born circa 1475-1480) is as far back as people can seem to go. Elizabeth's page on gencircles is: http://www.gencircles.com/users/ulsterboyd1/1/data/24590 This page will also tie into the Craig line for those of you who would like to search that more. To find the information on the royalty, I found two great webpages using google which covers the history of the Scottish monarchy. The pages are: http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page69.asp http://www.scotlandroyalty.org/scotland.html On the first page, if you click on The Bruces and The Stewarts, that will give you the information you need to continue the family. It provides dates as well as short blurbs about each monarch. On the second page, all of the monarchs are placed in chronological order. Fyi, Robert Stewart's father was Robert Stewart (King Robert II). He had several children, including two sons named Robert and John. It was John who succeeded his father to the throne, but because he had the same name as a previous king who was not well liked, he changed his name to Robert and became Robert III, so make sure that you dont' confuse our Robert Stewart (Prince of Scotland) with King Robert III.
