I have wondered ever since finding an old 1817 court granted Montgomery county VA document if someone could tell me what the relationship back in time the CRAIGs had to the COLEs. James Craig and John Ingles co-signed a bond that gave Eleazer Cole the right to perform the rites of marriage in VA. I have a Jane Craig b. April 13, 1820 in Virginia, Daughter of James Craig and Elizabeth Crawford Craig, who married John Cole b. July 15, 1818 in Ross, Ohio. They were married October 3, 1848 in Carroll County, Missouri. Jane died September 27, 1859 in Carroll County, Missouri and John died January 1, 1872 in Missouri. I don't know if this helps you but, maybe there is a connection between your Cole's and Craig's and my Cole's and Craig's.
