Ann Craig, by her tombstone, was b. abt. 10 Apr 1756, d. 10 Feb. 1826, bur. Tennet Cemetery, Tennet, NJ. Her parents were Major James Craig and wife Esther. Ann at some point married Stephen Haviland. There is confusion as to which Stephen Haviland she married. Most older historians have said it was Stephen Haviland, s/o Joseph and Mary Birdsall. However, this Stephen was b. abt. 1705, and died 28 Sept. 1772. Ann would have only been 16 at the time of his death, and he was 67 years old at that time - VERY unlikely! It is more likely that she was married to Stephen B. Haviland, son of Stephen, Sr. and 2nd wife, Sarah Throckmorton. If so, she would have been his second wife, following Priscilla. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Would James Craig be the British Revolutionary War Major? thank you for any help you can give me on this.
