    3. I realize that some of you may not be affected by this initially, but in reality all of us could be impacted by it eventually. I thought you'd want to see this and maybe join in the effort to prevent the destruction of these two cemeteries. Donna -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Sullivan Co. According to this information, a cemetery named Brainer Cemetery is currently in danger of being moved by a local coal company. This cemetery is said to be a Civil War cemetery, though I don't know if this means a Civil War era cemetery or a cemetery with Civil War vets buried there. The mine has ran several ads in a Sullivan-area newspaper, so my sources say, and the deadline for family to protest was supposed to be this past Thursday or Friday. I wish I had learned of this earlier so I could've passed it along much sooner. There is another cemetery that the mine wants to move. It is said to be the Bennett Cemetery. I don't know where it's located, except near Hymera. The Brainer Cemetery is located on County Road 300E in Sullivan Co. If anyone has any information about this, please feel free to post it to the list. I hope my source (a guy from Sullivan Co. who works with my husband) has given accurate information and I'm passing along helpful info to you all. I felt I should go ahead and post this even without knowing all the story, though, as I think cemetery removal is something people should know about. Many Greene Co. families moved back and forth between here and Sullivan Co., so ties between our area and the Sullivan area are strong. I thought maybe someone on our list might know more about this situation and could shed some light on it. Also, anyone with a listing of either the Brainer or Bennett Cemeteries can feel free to post listings to this list if they would like. Maybe someone will recognize a family member of theirs.
