    1. [CRAIG-L] Craig/Robinson connection?
    2. Justin Howery
    3. I'm looking for a possible connection between the Craig and Robinson (Robertson, Roberson, Robeson) families about the time of the Revolution. My Roberson ancestor named one of his sons Craig Roberson, and the family continued to use the name in succeeding generations, leading me to believe that they might have been connected to a Craig family. James ROBERSON, born 1770-1780 (was his mother a CRAIG?). He md in TN about 1803 to Catherine HELVEY, of Wythe Co VA, daughter of Henry HELVEY and Susannah GALE, and "widow" of Joseph BARRON, an Indian trader. Godspeed implies that they were married at the Watauga Settlement. Moved to Lee Co VA after 1810. Bought land at Cumberland Gap, Lee Co VA in 1813 and 1814. (Other Lee Co families had connections in NC, TN, KY, and VA -- the county touches all of those states.) James made his will in 1835, probated in 1836. Widow and her children moved 1839 to Platte Co MO. Children: 1. (step-son) William Nathaniel Gale BARRON, born 1801, raised by his mother's uncle in Carter Co, TN. 2. (step-daughter) Joanna BARRON, born about 1803, md abt 1820 TN to John W. COLLIER. To MO in 1839. 3. Catherine BARRON or ROBERSON, born about 1805. 4. Rufus Morgan ROBERSON, born about 1811 VA. To GA before 1834; to MO in 1839. Md (1) about 1834 GA to --- SKIDMORE?; (2) 1840 MO to Elizabeth LOMAX, half Cherokee. Died 1897 Holt Co MO. 5. Benjamin Francis ROBERSON, born 1813 VA. To MO in 1839. Md 1841 MO to Cynthia WYNN. Died 1858 Platte Co MO. 6. Thursa ROBERSON, born about 1817 VA. --> 7. Craig F. ROBERSON, born about 1819 VA. To MO in 1839. Md (1) 1843 MO to Elizabeth USSERY; (2) 1852 MO to Margaret STOVALL. 8. Regina ROBERSON, born about 1821 VA. To MO in 1839. Md 1843 MO to James G. RHEA. I would be interested in any connections between Craig and Roberson families that might account for the given name Craig here. Justin Howery justin@howery.net
