Hi: I am Cal Craig of Alton, Il born and raised there. My Ggreat grandfather was William John born in Manchester, Eng, The son of James and Mary nee McCann . William lived most of his childhood and early adulthood in Salford. He came to the states in or about 1854. He served in the Civil War and died in an Old Soldiers Home in Quincy, IL In between, he lived most of his life in Alton. He did appear in Jerseyville, IL US Census and a son, James was born there. He first marr. to Tamer Dixon and after her death, marr. Olive Diamond who was my Ggreat grandmother. Their children were John, Edward (twin), Calvin, and James.
