    3. Dear Sandra Tracy, I have occasionally posted my Craig information, and your listing is the first that fits the time frame-famine era emigration-- and location-Antrim, N. Ireland -- for my Craigs. Here is what I know: John or Francis Craig- John Francis or Frances John? was said to be the only child of a Mr. Craig and a Matilda, unknown maiden name. Matilda was later referred to as Matilda Dinsmore of Galdanagh (Caldenagh?). Perhaps she remarried. She later appears as a "Widow Dinsmore" in an Antrim document. The location fits with Dunloy (Townland) and Finvoy (Parish) and Kilconway (Barony) associate with my Craigs. The Kilconway Barony is between Ballymoney and Ballymena. Francis Craig her son, married Nancy (Mary Ann?) McQuillan, circa 1830. Nancy was born in Dunloy, circa 1810. Nancy and Francis married and had these children: (some documented by baptism in Dunloy, Finvoy, Antrim) John Craig ... married Mary Hogan William Craig.. married Sarah Doyle, William born circa 1837 Sarah Craig Dynes.. married Robert Dynes Matilda Craig married ???? Ann A. Craig Robertson.. married David Arthur Robertson Mary Craig Carey... married Martin Carey These marriages all took place after 1850 in WISCONSIN. Nancy emigrated with the children after Francis died. He was said to have been older than her. They lived in Antrim, but Francis died in Cork circa 1847 while attending a funeral. There is some mixed Catholic and Presbyterian practice in this generation, although nearly all the children and grandchildren were strong practicing R.C. John, although married to a Catholic, was documented as active in a Presby. Church, although he was died as a Catholic, and buried with his mother Nancy in a Catholic cemetery near Eau Claire, WI. As you know, most Craigs in N. Ireland were not RC, reflecting their Scottish origins. Craigs and McQuillans (ens) located in Wisconsin, with families fanning out to Minnesota, Missouri-and later South Dakota, with a fair number persisting in Wisconsin (Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Madison). William (1837) and Sarah Doyle Craig homesteaded in Mitchell, SD. They were my great great grandparents on my mother's Tobin side. I have given you quite a bit of disjointed information. Do any locations or related names ring a bell with you? Are there any Catholics - a good lead, with caveats, for my Craigs. I do not have a good map of 1800s N. Ireland with townlands and parishes included. I wonder what is the location of your townlands/parishes. And as I am sure you know, Craig is a common Antrim name! Good luck to us both. . .delighted to find Craigs on this list with Antrim roots circa famine times. Marybeth Shea 17 AM To: CRAIG-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CRAIG-L] William CRAIG b.
