    2. I too have a William {John) Craig in the family. My William was born in Manchester Eng. 17 Oct 1830 and christened in the Cathedral there. His parents were James and Mary McCann Craig who marr. in the church 6 Dec. 1829. Mary died 19 Mar. 1851 at their home at 83 Hope St. Salford, Eng. James was a weaver, town night watchman for the city of Salford, and ran a beer house out of his home. Besides William their were four other children.They were James B.Abt. Jan. 1832, Thomas B,13 Jan. 1836,Elizabeth Mary B.8 June 1839 and Margaret B.2 Mar. 1839. All of them born in Salford and christened at the Cathedral. William's grandfather was also James and marr. Margaret Houghton at the Cathedral in Liverpool on 8 nov. 1801.He was listed as a blacksmith and she as a widow. William went the states in or about 1854. He was still in the Salford directory in 1853. He served in the Civil War and settled in Alton, IL. He was my Ggreatfather. Cal in Tucson, AZ
