Samuel's father was Thomas CRAIG b abt 1785 who married Mariah SAYLOR, supposedly in Hunterdon county NJ. Both Thomas and Mariah are buried in Bell Cemetery, Coles CO, IL, just across the border from Edgar Co, IL. Thomas died in 1836 and Mariah in 1845. I have seen a photocopy of a handwritten journal from 1804 - 1806 written by a James CRAIG that gives the following information: Andrew Craig was born November 26th 1772 John Craig was born December 13th 1774 Esther Craig was born February 8th 1777 Joseph Craig was born August 17th 1778 James Craig was born January 19th 1780 William Craig was born Aprile 14th 1783 Thomas Craig was born July 11th 1785 Elener Craig was born November 22th 1787 John Craig was born May 16th 1790 Martha Craig was born October 20th 1792 Sarah Craig was born May 12th 1796 Robert Craig was born November 23th 1798 William Craig departed this life September the .... on Sunday about 3 of the clock in the after noon in the fiftyeth year of his age 1806 his funerel was prepare to meete thy God the 4th chapter of amos and the 12 varse and the 17 some [psalm] was said that day Martha Craig departed this life february 20 1827 Aged 72 years 11 mnts William Craig departed this life September the 7th 1806 in the fiftyeth year of his age Martha Craig wife of William Craig departed this life february 20th 1827 aged 72 years 11 monts Martha Craig was born March 5th 1754 Elleor Craig Tookman Febury 24th 1810 in the 23th year of her age If what is given above can be documented, it would seem that Sarah CRAIG HOUSEL b 1795/96 was a sister to Thomas CRAIG b abt 1785 and their parents were a William Craig b abt 1756 and Martha b abt 1754. If anyone has information verifying the journal entries given above, I'd love to hear from you! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
