    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: poorophelia Surnames: CRAIG Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.craig/2855.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Not so alarming as the journal has been passed down through the family and is still in the hands of a CRAIG descendant. The references to the later deaths are written in another hand than the listing of births, much as a family bible would be. I should have noted this. The remainder of the journal appears to be exercises in mathematics, economics and business, and also includes 2 lengthy poems. Many of the pages are dated, and on most James Craig has signed his name. It's 61 pages, and no, unfortunately I couldn't find a reference to location anywhere in it. The original was found in an old trunk on a CRAIG farm near Paris, Illinois. It has passed through the Thomas Craig (whom I had mentioned in my last posting) - William N Craig - Henry S Craig - line. I was told by this CRAIG descendant (whose identification is private) that James CRAIG was a shopkeeper in PA after the family moved from NJ. The Thomas CRAIG branch of the family then moved to IL. Wish I could be more specific. As I search for these needles in haystacks I will add more information. Again, as yet I haven't found documented sources for any of this information. I would love to join in with others exploring documents and sources related to this line. Janis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
