A Sarah CRAIG, b. 13 May 1795, married on 7 Jan 1815 in Hunterdon Co., NY a Jacob HOUSEL, b. Oct 1792. They had one child, Martha, b. 23 Dec 1815, before moving to Steuben Co., NY. There they had sons Eli HOUSEL (b. 1817), Francis S. HOUSEL (b. 12 Mar 1825), and Andrew Jackson HOUSEL (b. 1829) and a daughter, Abigail C. HOUSEL, b. 1831 before departing for the west. They were in Edgar Co., IL in time for the 1840 census (p. 84). They appear in the 1850 census of Grandview and Embarrass Twp., Edgar Co., IL (page 241, emumerated 19 Dec 1850, indexed on Ancestry.com as FLAVELL). Sarah died 4 Oct 1851 and is buried in the New Athens Cemetery, Embarras Twp, Edgar Co., IL. Jacob remarried and lived on until 22 Jan 1864. He is buried in the same cemetery. I do not know if your Samuel and this Sarah are related, but it seems a little bit too much to be dismissed as coincidental. If anyone has more information on either Jacob HOUSEL or Sarah CRAIG, please respond by posting or directly via email. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
