The story that has been passed down through our family is that Robert Johnson was Capt John's business partner. The Capt became infirm of mind in his last years and Robert Johnson was made the executor of the estate.....but....Robert Johnson died before Capt John. This is where the mess started. One of Wm Smith Craig's daughters (Wm Smith was the son of Lewis who went to Tn, when Wm was a small child) got some sort of a settlement from the lost land. I was told by the family that a coal mine settled up with some of the heirs. There is a big mix up in clear titles to ground still to this day. One of my aunts from KY sent me a clipping some years ago entitled "John Craig Strikes Again"!!! In our family bible, brought from KY by Lewis, Capt John (Lewis' grandfather) is entered into the bible as Capt John Hawkins Craig. It also lists his son as John Hawkins Craig.
