    1. [CRAIG-L] Complaints about message content et al
    2. Mark A. Craig
    3. I counted at least SEVENTY-SIX messages posted just today, yet I haven't heard anyone complaining. Is it any coincidence that such a massive number of "un-silly" posts followed all the earlier "silly" dialog and subsequent complaints and unsubscriptions? I doubt it; I think it all energized everyone, much like the cup of coffee I used as a metaphor in an earlier post. Am I still upset about those complaints? You bet I am. NO ONE except the list manager has any business publicly maligning others' messages as silly and trying to control the flow of the dialog. Just because the topics of those messages were of no interest to you is no excuse. Some people are also wonderfully creative at hiding their true motives behind plausible-sounding rationalizations, and they do both themselves and everyone else a disservice in the process. If you want to be upset about something "silly", why not get upset about the ongoing difficulty that so many current list memebers seem to be having with simple message etiquette, which truly affects everyone? You know, if I were paying horrendous connect charges, downloaded the headers for Craig-L messages and picked which ones I wanted to download, then spent precious connect minutes retrieving those complete messages only to discover that they weren't at all what the subject implied, I'd be livid! Yet I don't recall anyone complaining about that in the past; no, they waited to complain about "silly" messages where the subject line was actually on-target and they had the choice to make. I have subscribed to Craig-L for more than two years, but in the last six months or less I have seen a steady decline in the quality of posts. This latest episode has been too much for me. I have no stomach for the way in which a few people so unaware and unenlightened are diluting the experience for everyone else. Needless to say, I can do little more than I've already tried to do, by educating people. I give up. Some of you are truly remarkable people, both personally and in terms of what you have to contribute, and you'll missed.
