Craig, who I believe was single. She inherited, until death, a portion of my gg grandfather's summer farm in Tannersville, New York, until her death, when his son, Edgar Swain, would inherit it. My gg grandfather Shubael Edgar Swain lived in Jersey City, when married, near the Van Vorst and the Barrows, who had identical mansions. His daughter married a Van Vorst. The daughter of the Barrows, married a Craig- her name was Ann Craig. The Barrow Mansion still exists. I am trying to understand who this woman is and why she inherited the smaller home on the farm. It was quite a large place. At first I thought she might be one of his sister for whom I don't have a name. But she seems to be single. She is also on a Tannersville map for the time she was there. There are a number of Lucy Craigs. According to the 1900 census she had an Irish father, and mother from NY and she was born in NY. I have a John M. Craig born 1853 in Mercer Co. KY and married his wife Elvira (Jordan) there in 1874. We do have a record of where they died or of their children. However, we do know that other Craig cousins had moved to Indiana then Illinois and then some on further into Kansas and Mo. The John M. mentioned above had a brother or Sister named Almerado that is thought to have headed west to Indiana a bit earlier. I am sure I must have written you before, ....but can't remember! My John Craig was in the 84th Regiment, received a land grant in New Brunswick, Bonny River, where we live. I cannot find his origin no matter how long or hard I search. So you see, I am, once again, following every lead. The first I have him is on a Muster Roll, at Ft. Edward, Nova Scotia, 25 June 1782. I think there is a possibily he could have originally been a Patriot soldier or a prisoner. I am looking at all options! Any clues or suggestions???? It lists: William Craig, 21, unknown Emily Craig, 30, N. Carolina Mandy then 2 initials, 1 (year old) Is this Emily Craig, Emily Jones? Is Mandy William's daughter, or Emily's that she brought into the marriage? I am researching the Hall family from Anderson County, Tennessee. I am trying to see if this Emily is the same Emily that married Daniel Hall. Is James Bledsoe a Jones, or a Craig? This family stuff sure gets confusing when our family has no answers.
