There was a great migration of Craig families from Ireland into SC during the period of 1763 to 1774. See Jane Revill's book and others on the Irish Immigrants. If you study the SC Council Journals you will see a great list of Craig entries. If you go on line and study the SC Land Grants at http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/Archives/search/default.asp the SC Archives again you find many Craig families. You will also find some of these Craig's that did not migrate directly from Ireland but other states. If you trace the land grants via the land plats at SC archives you will find the locations of these Craig Families in SC. If you study A. S. Salley Indent Records for services rendered in the Rev. War you will see many of these Craig families mentioned over and over again. If you read Moss's book on SC Patriots you will also see these Craig's identified within various locations in SC. Then by going into the SC county of interest Court Houses you will find volumes of information on these Craig Families. Our Craig Family left Port of Larne, Northern Ireland, Nov. 1773 arrived Charleston, SC Feb 1774 and settled in Laurens County SC. I am trying to get information on my 3rd great grandmother Ann Craig(e). Supposedly born about 1824 in North Carolina. I find her marriage information in Cherokee County, Georgia to Elisha T. Whittemore dated 1849 yet cannot find her anywhere in the 1850 census. Not under maiden name or married name. I have been told that the marriage bonds (whatever they are called) didn't contain parent information then so I am at a total loss. I find her in 1860 and 1870. She died in 1873 in Alcorn County, Mississippi. Here's hoping someone is missing an Ann(i)e Craig(e) from North Carolina! :) Thanks in advance for any and all help! Lainee

Help! Did James McCoy Craig marry Sarah McNutt or did he marry Susanna COFFEE (then Elizabeth COLLIER)? Were there 2 James McCoy Craig(s)? Am hoping that one or more of you might possibly be able to assist in breaking down the "brick wall" that has surrounded the below family of James McCoy CRAIG and his wife, Sarah McNUTT, that has withstood the past twenty-five or more years regarding this family. Have pulled out many hairs in frustration in trying to make any headway on the family, but find myself no closer to learning who the children were for James and Sarah, or what might have happened to any of them, that I find myself as of this writing. Back in the late 1970's or early 1980's some believed that James McCoy CRAIG's descendants had removed to Tennessee, but whoever had asserted same, was disproven within a fairly short time. Since then, have found absolutely nothing additional on this family. Might you be able to help in anyway whatsoever in shedding light on this family?
