Dear Sharon, My husband has done only a little research on his Tally line. The earliest Tally that he has researched is James Butler TALLY b. 1821 in AL, died in Arkansas..m. Susan BUFFINGTON and Emily LOGAN...his son with Emily: Dennis Butler TALLY b. 1852 AR , m. Catherine CRITTENDEN ....their son Charles Tilden TALLY Sr. b. 1876, Clark Co. AR, d. 1940, Kilgore, TX, m. Annie Laurie SNEED of Nashville, TN (1876-1957)...their son Charles Tilden TALLY Jr. m. Arline RICE...their son is my husband. Do these names ring any bells with you? Anita
Anita; I noticed your surname is Tally, are you doing a search on the Tally line as well? Tully is one of the surnames as well as Craig that i am researching. Could you tell me something about the Tallys? Like where do they originate from and the given names as well. Just came upon this website for Craig's Church at Paytes, Virginia, the remainder of the Upper Spotsylvania Church Lewis Craig left when he led the Travelling Church to Kentucky, taking much of the Congregation and many others with him. http://craigsbaptistchurch.org It includes a picture of the monument that marks the old site of the church that Craig would've known. I visited there in the 1980's. Bill Davis wmadavis@kih.net **************************************************************** * * * Fax (978)334-7850 * P.O. To All: Although there are scattered references for other Craigs, the Craig family in this book is that of Absolom Craig. His daughter, Heathy Craig, by Absalom's unknown first wife, married Daniel Hillman in 1776. By Absalom's second wife, daughter of Daniel Feagan, whom he married 5 June 1788 in Bourbon County, there were children William and Violet Craig. William m. Peggy Givens and Violet m. William Ballenger. Absolom was killed by Indians in Adams County, Ohio according to information from this book. The ancestory of Absolom is unknown although he apparently came from Loudoun Co., VA. James E. Bellarts, a cousin of Eliza Brevoort, published information claiming that Absolom was a son of James Craig and Jane Wetherow (Team #24). No facts can be found to support his claim and circumstantial evidence shows it to be incorrect.
