    1. [CRAIG-L] John Craig - PA - 1750-1800
    2. I am attempting to locate info on a John Craig, supposedly born in the "craig settlement" of Cumberland Co, PA (not the Craig "Irish" Settlement of Northampton Co.) sometime in the mid-1700's. This settlement was located in the area of the present-day Camp Hill, PA. He fought in the Rev War, joining Capt Hendricks' Company of the PA Rifle Battalion in July 1775. He was involved in the siege of Boston, and was part of the force that attacked Quebec with Benedict Arnold (and was NOT captured) on Decmber 31, 1775. After his company was disbanded (due to the loss of 75% of the company from death/capture), he joined the 2nd PA battallion as a 2nd Lt. He stayed w/the unit when it was reformed to the 3rd Pa Regt, Continental Line, as a 1st Lt. He later transferred to Moylan's 4th Pa dragoons as a Capt, and commanded a company of dragoons until the end of the war. He later married Elizabeth CRAIG, sister of Col Thomas Craig (my gggg-grandfather), through Thomas, the Elder, of the Craig Settlement, and had children. I am looking for any additional information, as I am involved in Rev War reenacting (is this carrying genealogy too far??!!), and my character is John Craig. Thanks in advance for any help.

    1. [CRAIG-L] Craigs in Missouri
    2. Kelly Redman
    3. Hello everyone! I am new to this list. Recently my sister and I found out that our great grandfather's name was Clyde Smith Craig, he was born abt. 1887 in Nevada, Vernon County, Missouri. I found him in the 1910 Kansas Census married to my ggrandmother Marie (Johnson) and living with a John M. & Ida L. Craig (who said they were from South Carolina). Then next time that I find Clyde and Marie is when they have a child in El Dorado Springs, Cedar County, MO. Then on the 1920 Census I find him living with his mother in St. Louis, MO. Her name is Maud Parham, I think she must have been widowed by Clyde's father and then again by Mr. Parham. On this census it says that Clyde is divorced. I am unsure of Clyde's fathers name, I think he was born in either Illinois or Kentucky. I also do not know his mother's maiden name, I have guessed that it might be Smith since that is Clyde's middle name but I do know that she was born in Illinois. I also know that Clyde had 4 other siblings but only 3 were alive by 1910. I know that this Craig family did not stay in St. Louis but I have no idea where they went. If any of this looks familiar to anyone, please let me know. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Kelly Texas

    3. Howdy! Cannot give you much because I'm a newbie of 6 months and just joined this list last week. My Craigs are maternal line, but can't get back far: Sue Morris (my mother) Mary Edith Craig (b 1913, lives in Decatur IL) mGlenn Morris (b1908) Mary's parents: Charles Elmer Craig (1888) m Inez Victoria Sumner (1896) Charles Parents: David Oliver Craig (?) m Mary Elizabeth Shoemaker (?) I have a few children if you get any hits on these, but not much info except most buried in Creal Springs IL. I've been told I'm related to a signer on the morris side and eligible for DAR on the Morris and Craig side, so I'm anxious to get the line farther. 3. Samantha, I'm new to this (6 mnths) but if you haven't already started at these, you should go there asap. I've only been with this craig page a few weeks myself, but the others that I am involved with have been extremely helpful. I will post when I find something, and you keep posting too. Never know when you'll find a long-lost cuz. My Craigs are maternal ggrandparents Inez Victoria Craig (sumner) m Charles Craig. Both buried in Creal SPrings IL and I think married there. Children Walter, Elmer Charles and Mary (gma) Haven't gotten much farther back than that, but if it rings a bell later we can work together. www.ancestry.com www.genbay.com also look in the immigrants logs on rootsweb for links, and check the county listings to find cemetery readings. I found my paternal gggrandparents there. Good luck. 1. [CRAIG-L] New Subscriber
    2. I would like information on subscribing. I have been doing Craig research for over a year. It is my mothers maiden name. My earliest ancestors that I can locate are James Craig born 1753 in New Hampshire (Chester, I think) His brother was John Craig born 1758 also in NH. They both fought in the Revoluntionary War. THey both ended up moving to CLark Co Ohio in the early 1800's where they are both buried at Fletcher Chapel. I have some research that tells me their dad was Andrew Craig born around 1710 in Ireland. I do not have any definite information on that. I feel that Andrew may have been the son of Alexander Craig, who I have read was one of the earliest settlers in the Chester NH area. That is the early information that I have. Thanks for your help Marianne MDKJ1234@aol.com
