    2. Other fun thing about Joseph Craig, Jr. and Mary Parker, Mary is the first cousin once removed of Mary Todd Lincoln. The Todds and Parkers married each other for several generations and Mary Todd Parker's mother was a Parker. Mary Ellen

    2. Several CRAIGS left Fayette co IL for Wilson Co KS in the late 1850's. I would like to identify others that were in the party with Windsor CRAIG. They settled along the Verdigris river near what became Coyville Kansas. 3. To Ima, There is information on this family in "Historical Southern Families", Vol. V., by John Bennett Boddie. In part it says about Mary: John Anderson was a son of Capt. William Anderson who married (1) 1776 Mary Craig ( 1752-1778), a daughter of James Craig (1715-1791) and mary Laird (1715-1785). married (2) Catherine Blair. Capt. William Anderson moved to KY in 1779. There is no more information here about the descendants of Mary, however, it can be seen that they were only married for about 2 years. Hope this helps. 3. Hello List! I am reasearching Craigs from PA, especially in Venago Co. I have been working on the same guy for over a year! Jesse Russell Craig was a civil war vet. He married Nancy Moore(b. 1839 d. 1927). Jesse was born in 1828 in maybe PA or NY (only god knows where). He died in 1898 in Oregon. They had a large family. The following is the list of there children: *John William 1865-1924 Eliza Jeanette 1867-1911 Brinton Webley 1868-1901 Robert W. 1870-1912 Julia 1874-1953 Charles F. 1877-1878 Jessie Rose 1882-1971 Clyde C. 1885-1911 *John is my line. Jesse had at least two brothers, Darius & Robert. I think that Darius was also refered to as William, but he could be another brother. I swear I must be the only one researching this man. Thank-you so much! ~Jessy Frieze~

    3. Dear Mary Ellen: Your e-mail gave me quite a start. Leo Craig was my first cousin. I have our genealogy back to 1750 but I do not have a record of Joseph Craig. My Craigs were from Indiana but I have suspected there might be a connection to the Ky Craigs for years but Have never been able to find. it. Leo's son Orville Dale Craig was b 22 Sep 1934 m 19 Sep 1953 Wanda Lilly b 21 Jan 1935. The last records I have of them they had two children, Danny Ray and Cathy Elaine. Leo's other son Vernon was b 25 Oct 1939 m Lillian Aubrey Aug 1963. The last I knew they were both in Kansas City, Mo. I believe I heard from some of the relatives up there that when Leo died he divided the farm between the two boys and that Dale was going to move back up to Harrison Co., Mo. Would be interested in more about Joseph if you care to share Freeda Craig Brower, Grove. Ok.. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Mercat@aol.com> To: <CRAIG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 06, 2000 10:10 PM Subject: Re: [CRAIG-L] Re: "My Craig family" and Siloam Springs, Arkansas > I'm looking for a Dale or Vernon Craig, should still be alive... sons of Leo > Craig and Eileen Nichols. 3. I took a "Rhodesian Ridgeback vacation day" yesterday and had a wonderful time. Daughter Becky and her hubby Matt came out to inspect the camper and start getting it ready to pull down to the National Specialty Rhodesian Ridgeback Dog Show in Lexington KY at the KY Horse Park the last week of August. (Very near Bryan's Station) Had to get the propane tanks filled, etc, etc....a lot of you know the drill, pulling a trailor around the countryside!..:-)) Anyway....my 4 grandogs were here all day and they had a ball. They made me think about why I love and admire and respect this breed and dogs in general, so much. We had to go for a rip through the woods and watching them work as a pack is a delight. They have this sort of "incomprehensible to humans" sign language they use with one another. You can actually see them silently communicating....one of them stopping, tail stiff and eyes glued on a target...within a split second, everyone else picking up on that que, is zeroing in on some "big game" in the Milo field :-). All of them swerving and weaving at full tilt in the same direction. They reminded me of a flock of wild geese wheeling in the skies...all following their leader by some mysterious means of communication known only to them. Then, here they all come back, the ends of their tongues all spread and inflated and lolling out of the sides of a broad smiles. They flop down in the grass in a kind of diving motion and there they lay puffing and blowing until Cu decides they have rested enough and begins to taunt everyone with her funny spraddle legged, stiff, pounce, pounce, duck, duck, diving, "haff, haff, gruff, huff" vocalizing until someone takes her up on the challenge. Then the rough and tumble leaping and butting and gnawing on one another's eyeballs begins!!! :-)) When I went in to cook dinner I had lots of help. Four strong, muscled, lean, shining, red bodies swarming behind my every step. Eight eyes attatched to every morsel I was preparing..."Whatcha gonna do with that?" "You gonna drop that?" You gonna eat all of that, Grandma?" "Plaatz, I didn't want that piece of apple...I wanted that piece of meat!" After we humans finished eating and treats were passed out all around, I felt someone boring into the back of my head....I turned. It was Katie Scarlett looking at me and sending brain waves. When she caught my eye she started vocalizing. Amazing how they know and realize. Amazing how I understood what she wanted. I asked her..."You want to go outside, again?" All four leapt to their feet and beat it to the door.....and off they went again...tilting and wheeling like the free spirits they are through the fields. It just doesn't get much better than that.......Judy PS....I will make my annual pilgrimage to the spring at Bryan's Station again. Some of my doggy friends are interested in seeing it, too! I will remember all of you when I am there. *********************************************************** cato@primary.net ***********************************************************

I guess it depended on if you were Black Irish like your mother.....and proud of it....or some dork that couldn't think of anything else to say so flung out an "insult" "Black Irish".....same as, particularly here in the St Louis area, where there was a large population of Irish not unlike Boston....they were called "lace curtain Irish".....many, many, many of the Irish households had lace curtains in their front windows. They were called "lace curtain Irish".....some people said it admiringly....some dorks hurled it as an insult...!!!! Go figure....we are dealing with humans here!!!! The more I have to fool around with people...the much better I prefer my dogs!!! :-)) ..........Judy *********************************************************** cato@primary.net ***********************************************************

    2. Hi all- My mother always referred to her side of the family, Logan as black Irish. They all had dark and I mean dark black hair with black eye\-brows and fair complexion. In reading I got the impression that when the Spanish Armada was shipwrecked some of the Spanish made there way to Ireland and intermarried with the Irish. Not a historical fact but I do remember reading that somewhere. Jo Johnston
