    2. Noticed with interest your Craig-Montgomery connection. Mt ancestor John and Eleanor Craig came from Ahoghill Ireland on the ship Bettie out of LArne Ireland in 1773. If I remember right I saw that a Montgomery was the agent in Larne for the shipping co. Also my Craigs show up on the will of I think it is John Montgomery in Laurens County SC where they settled after arriving in Charlestown SC. If you are interested in this Craig -Montgomery stuff I'll look it up and giver you the facts as I have them. lonnie Jones

If so, she was my aunt, several generations back, and a daughter of James and Margaret (Weir) Montgomery who moved from Augusta County, Virginia to Washington County, Tennessee (then N.C.) in about 1781, and then down to Blount County, Tennessee by the mid-1790s. I thought I had names for their children, but I just checked and I do not. What threw me off was that James Montgomery had a brother named Robert Montgomery, who married Sarah Colville, and lived in Washington County, VIRGINIA (not Tennessee). Among their daughters was Juliet Montgomery who married John Craig in 1811, Jane Montgomery who married a Mr. Hays, Esther Montgomery who married David Hayes, and John Montgomery who married Elizabeth Christy Craig. Does any of this possibly fit with your research?

    3. Hello Everyone, I thought it might be time to put my information out there again. So here it goes. I am looking for information regarding Albert G. Craig. He was born ( I think) in 1855 and in Pennsylvania somewhere. I have my ggrandfathers birth certificate and it says that his fathers age was 45 at the time of his birth and that was in 1900. He had at least one known son by the name of Ira Edward Craig born in 1900 In Summerfield Kansas. Ira had 12 kids with wife Mercedes Leona Collier . All were born in Lincoln Nebraska. Bernard Eugene Craig is one of those 12 and my grandfather. He was born January 22, 1924. My father is one of Bernard¹s children. His name is William Lee Craig and he was born November 10, 1945 in Berkeley California. If anyone has any information at all, please contact me. I would be so grateful! Thank you Sherri -- Where there's life, there is hope." ==== CRAIG Mailing List ==== -- I want, by understanding myself, to understand others. 2. Mollie Molnar
    3. Have been reading this list for several months. What is an "orphan" Craig family? I think I may be part of one. I have a Sarah (Sallie) M. Craig born 1808 and living in Gibson Co. Tennessee. Sarah married John Bowen Hays and is closely associated with Mary Ann Craig who married J.T. Stewart, all in same area of TN. Believe that they were sisters and daughters of William W. Craig and Esther Montgomery. Sarah had a son named WWC Hays and a daughter named Esther. Both Sarah (head of household in 1850) and Mary Ann moved to Shelby Co. TN by 1850. No one with whom I have corresponded has either of the women listed as children of Wm. W. Craig. If you have information, please contact me. Thanks for all the information on this site. 3. Good Morning Edward: John Craig and Rachel LaHue are my ancestors and as to John's parents, I am against a brickwall. John apparently appeared out of nowhere in Wythe Co., Va where he married Rachel LaHue. Rachel I can trace back to France but John is a mystery. They had one child in Wythe Co, Va and moved to Kentucky. If you can have can help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks, ----- Original Message ----- From: Edward A. 2. Edward A. Scriven
    3. I am in one of the many orphan CRAIG families. My James CRAIG was born 12 Apr 1801 in Pennsylvania, possibly in Crawford County. He is said to have been a son of John CRAIG and his wife Rachel. Nothing more is known of the parents. James, however, married Elizabeth HASTINGS on 26 Sep 1822 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and he died rather young on 27 Apr 1847 in Sheakleyville, Mercer, Pennsylvania. It seems John CRAIG appears in Sandy Creek, Mercer, Pennsylvania in Dec or 1808. His will was probated in Mercer County in 1814. We don't know how old he would have been then. One story says John was in the Revolutionary War serving under George Washington. We have seen nothing to prove that. However, we understand much of the land in western Pennsylvania was made available to veterans of the War. The only John CRAIG anyone has mentioned with a wife named Rachel was born abt. 1771 in Frederick County, Virginia, and was married to a Rachel LAHUE. He would be too young to fight in the Rev. War, but maybe it was his father who fought and later went to western Pennsylvania when John was older. This John would be old enough to be our James' father, but at this point it is still just conjecture. Anyone with anything about any of these people in their files? I would love anything to validate or even repudiate this information, just so we could know. Thanks for your time and help. Ed Scriven

    1. [CRAIG-L] George Henry Craig of Lancashire
    2. Greetings all! I am new to this list and have turned here as a bit of a last resort. This is a long shot but I must try. My g-grandfather on my father's side was a fellow named George Henry CRAIG. Interestingly enough, after having searched this list, I have found several, all dating earlier but indicating a possible onomastic tradition. This is what I have on my George Henry: Born ca. 1872 in Earlstown, Lancashire, England. He married Josephine Margaret Lord Feb. 13, 1892. They settled in the town of Lancaster and had six daughters. Georges occupation is given as "cabinetmaker" but somehow or other my father was under the impression that he was some kind of structural engineer.Georges siblings were Ada, Minie, and John. George Henry's father was Robert CRAIG, b. July 3, 1848 in Liverpool. Date of death unknown. Robert's father's name was James CRAIG dob. unk. Here's my quandary: George apparently left his family for America sometime after the birth of his daughter Gwendoline in 1904. I would love to know just what hapened to him. Any information and/or leads would be much appreciated. Thanks. Yours in the hunt, Ken Roberts

I found this Craig web site, but was unable to do much with it because I didn't know much about my grandfather's family. All I had was his father's name. My father couldn't even tell me what his grandmother's name was. I have just sifted through the e-mail sent to me and never made a connection. I know I have read a dozen of your e-mail as well and never knew. After reading this one all kinds of information was jogged in my memory ie. Cora, Essie, Leo, and Oscar. My grandparents are Leo and Theda Craig. I don't know if you know my father John Craig? My name is Katherine. My grandfather took me to a grave site of a Elizabeth Jackson. 2. Hi All, I am just newly re-subscribed to the Craig list. My computer crashed a 2 or 3 months back and just got back on... I am on the orphan list (page 9 I think) but thought I would see if anyone knows anything about a William Hamilton Craig b 1820 in PA.. I have received some information that his parents are John and Nancy Charlton Craig but have not been able to defiantly connect them.. The only clue I have that makes me thing this is the right parents is that William had a daughter names Annetta Briscoe Charlton Craig. Briscoe being the wife's maiden name.. I would appreciate any information anyone might have... Thank You. Bonnie Weller (Bowell@aol.com)
