Hi, Do you know what part of S.C. William Craig was born in? I have a Thomas Craig in S.C. around 1800. This was in the Barnwell, Aiken County areas. Please e-mail me at KS3096@aol.com. Thanks! Shirley
SUSAN ANN CRAIG Born abt. 1828 in TN. She was in the household of THOMAS CRAIG born abt. 1806 TN with his wife Sarah (ALLEN) and daughters MARTHA born abt. 1839, M. ELIZABETH born abt. 1841, ANGELINE and CHARLOTTE. SUSAN was 21 yrs old according to the census in Benton County TN in 1850. She married JOHN A. SPIRES on 2-10-1854 in Swearingen Mill in Benton County TN. Does anyone have any information on these folks? Thank you for your time Penny Wilson
I can't help you with the Craig side of this, but if you could get your Tiltons back one or two more generations you will most likely find that you are a descendant of William Tilton of Massachusetts. He is the progenitor of most of the Tiltons in the US. I have a very good book on them, but they stopped the lineage in the early 1800s. So if you can get to around 1800-1820, then I think I can tie you into the rest. My Tiltons came out to Indiana, and many went on west to CA........and there are still many in Ohio, New Jersey, New York, MA, ME, and NH. Good luck. P.S. have you tried the Tilton GenForum to try and place your Charles Tilton? There are many good researchers on there and you might find him and his Craig connection. -----Original Message----- From: Craig Beeman <crb@ponyexpress.net> To: CRAIG-L@rootsweb.com <CRAIG-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, October 01, 2000 2:49 AM Subject: [CRAIG-L] CRAIG & TILTON families - Looking for Cousins! >"Hello again Cousins!" > >Might anyone of you be familiar with the following CRAIG family of >Vermilion Co., IL? Finally confirmed my line back to the Revolutionary War. Does anyone else recognize this line farther back? I know it goes back to England and possibly Ireland/Scotland. Looking for any information on Wm. John Craig, widower as listed in the 1901 cenus. His daughter Ellen however married James Hatton a bach.,age 23,carpenter of Ballymena, son of John Hatton merchant.Ellen was a spinster at the age of 23 when they married from Drumminning. They were married 15 January 1881 at RC Chapel at Dunloy. Her father Wm. John Craig was an engine man. In the 1901 census Ellen was also listed as a widow with three children.Wm.John,b.181888 Charles b.1885 and Sarah.b.1883.Not sure if Wm. John Craig had any other children or not and we aren't sure who his wife is. The census does say he is Presbyterian. However, Ellen and James were married in RC Church. In 1901 census Ellen is 42 yrs. oldand her father is living in Tullygrawley at the time of this census. If any one can help we would greatly appreciate it.
