Dear George, Another line of my ancestors where also born in Cecil Co, MD and ended up in Beaver Co, PA and they are thoroughly documented. Give me a few days to "restudy" them and get back with you. Ask me in a week. I followed my Craigs backwards from Clarion, IA; Grand Ridge, La Salle Co, IL; Preble Co, OH to Fayette Co, PA then lost them. Thanks for this new lead. Nancy, The information you have given does sound promising. We visited the Cookport Methodist Cemetery this past May, when we picked up our son who is attending CWRU in Cleveland. Cookport is north and east of Indiana. Take route 286 north out of Indiana, go through Clymer and turn right (east) onto route 240. When you get to Cookport, a very small town (don't blink), take the first road south (right) out of the center of town. You will pass a small church and cemetery on the left; the Methodist cemetery is just a little ways beyond and on the right. The Craigs and Kathy's great-grandfather George Beringer are about in the center of the cemetery. Daisy's gravesite adjoins the graves of Irvin and Elizabeth. We've wondered about the possible relationship. Home, PA, I notice is not that far away from Cookport. In fact, it is almost due west. However, there are no roads directly between the two towns. We have not found any information about Irvin. We do not know what his occupation was or anything about the rest of his family. The Craigs are currently one of our dead-ends (no pun intended). His daughter, Catherine was born and raised near Cookport, according to her obituary. A brief search of Indiana county records shed no light on the Craigs either (the county records for that time period are very sparse). Do you have any idea why Daisy was buried with Irvin and Elizabeth? Her husband Ellis Armstrong is not any where nearby. We know her husband was Ellis by the inscription. We can't imagine that there were very many Daisy Craigs running around Indiana county in that time period. We're not sure what Robert's relation to Irvin might be. Is it possible Irvin is another brother or cousin? Do you know the name of Robert's parents? What other information do you have about Robert's brothers? We look forward to any ideas that you may have about our mutual mystery. Russ and Kathy
Russ & Kathy, We might have a match on the Craigs in Indiana, PA. I have a Daisy CRAIG who is listed in the 1900 Census, Rayne Twp, Indiana Co, PA. Her birth date is given as October of 1881. She was the youngest daughter of Robert Nelson CRAIG (b 1838) and Henrietta BELL, who were my g-g-grandparents. Robert & Henrietta came from Clarion County, PA where there are a lot of Craigs. There also seemed to be a branch that settled in Indiana Co, PA and I always wondered what motivated Robert to move there. I wonder if Irvin and Elizabeth were that connection? Where is Cookport Methodist Cemetery? Robert & Henrietta are buried in Grove Chapel Cemetery in Home, PA (on Rt 119 between Indiana & Punxsutawney). Do you have any information on Irvin Craig or his occupation? I have a James and Washington Craig (Robert's brothers) who were contracted to build a woolen mill in Indiana County. Hope we can exchange some more information. Nancy Williams Cleveland, Ohio
We have the following: Irvin Craig, b. 6 Nov 1821, d. 30 Oct 1878, m. Elizabeth Hartman they had a daughter; Catherine Susanna Craig, b. 18 Sep 1847in Indiana Cty, PA, d. 27 Feb 1910 in Uniontown, Green Twp, Indiana Cty, PA she married George Beringer on 5 Jan 1871 also of Indiana Cty, PA Other graves at Cookport Methodist Cemetery where Irvin, Elizabeth, Catherine and George are buried: Bernard Craig, 1883-1907 Daisy Craig Armstrong, 1882-1911, wife of Ellis Armstrong Elizabeth Craig, d. 1851, mostly illegible, appeared to say "Dau of I. and E. Craig" Does this fit into anyone's Craig data? Russ and Kathy (Beringer) Mudgett Chandler, Arizona

Open response to Krealyn .... Here we go with these close/cross-over names. .... We have a son of William and Peggy (Margaret) Walters/Waters (m 4 Apr 1805 in Jessamine County, KY d 1832 Paris , Edgar County, Illinois) named Daniel Tilford Craig ... Tilford does not appear to be a common name but maybe it was.... Daniel Tilford had a sister Maria (b 1825) who married a George Robertson in Anderson County KY in 1845. They had a Tilford Robertson and a Mary C. Robertson (b 1848). ..... I wonder where the Tilford came from ... Gary D.
