1. [CRAIG-L] Request For Prayer
2. I know this should not go on list, but I know prayer does help, and I'm asking my friends and family online for that help. I and the rest of my family need some serious prayers. We've had a tough year with illnesses and deaths. And it continues. Nine years ago my double first cousin Donald Rust died of cancer. Early this year his daughter Debbie was killed by a truck on the turnpike near Tulsa. At six p.m. today, his widow Barbara died after suffering a long time with cancer. I also learned today that his brother Dale has lung cancer and very serious emphazema. Will have to go through chemo and forever be on oxygen. I talked to my mom tonight and learned that my sister Beverley is scheduled to start chemo to treat something in her blood. Her poor circulation is beginning to paralyze her. Again, I apologize for this, but I know that prayer works. Bud

1. [CRAIG-L] Craigs
2. Gary Craig
3. Part of our Craig line moved from Kentucky to Indiana to Illinois and on to Washington in the early to mid 1800s. The firmest link we have is Daniel Tilford Craig who was a sheriff for a time in Roseburg County. The following appeared in the latest Craig-Links. It definitely shows some of Daniel Tilford Craig's records. It also shows a Frederick Craig that we think was related to Daniel .... cousin???? If anyone has information that is connected to these two folks we have a wealth of information on other members of the line and would like any information on the Washington Territory Craigs connected to the above..... here is the section of Craig-Links .... a fine hard copy service that is struggling to keep going... Information abstracted from index cards at Oregon State Archives: Douglas County (formed 1852 from Umpqua)--D. T. Craig, election returns June 1856; receipted bill for conveying prisoner to penitentiary 20 Mar. 1858; census 1857; Married 9 Feb. 1910 (surely another generation of Daniel Tilford Craigs). Lane County (formed 1851 from Linn, Umpqua)--Daniel Craig assessment roll 1859. Linn County (formed 1847 from Champoeg)--Daniel CT. Craig assessment roll 1858 (Our Family Note... Since we know Daniel was sheriff of Roseburg, here are some Roseburg entries... Amalie:) Charles H. Craig admitted 18 Oct. 1916 to Roseburg Soldiers' Home. Roseburg Donation Land Certificates: Daniel T. Craig; Orphans of Samuel Craig and wife are John W., Hetty A., Sarah E. Craig) (Our Family Note... Here is some information from the State of Washington listings --I'm only including it because the person is Fredrick Craig ... Amalie.) Fredrick Craig b. 2 Jan. 1859 Savanna, Carroll Co., IL, d. 13 July 1926 Port Angeles, Clallam Co., WA. Married 3 Sept. 1882 Haron, Shelby Co., IA, Mary Burcham, b. 8 Oct. 1864 Mondamin, Harrison Co., IA, d. 17 Sept. 1960 Blyn, Clallam Co., WA. Fredrick was the son of Robert Craig b. KY and Mary Gunsolley Craig. Fredrick started the first Western Union telegraph office in Clallam Co., WA. The office was in his home on Chicken Coop Rd. in Blyn. He fell from a pole in 1926 and was killed. His wife was the midwife for the Blyn area. "His daughter Ruth still lives on the old homestead in Blyn (no date)." Their Children: 1. 2. Warren and Rae I have no information on the David in my line. Like most Craig's we have James, Andrew, Samuel etc. Would like to know the names of David's brother and sister. Also Lizzie is a common name for Elizabeth. Our Lizzie was born Elizabeth Sarah. Lynne

3. It is me again, searching for answers. I have been trying to get information on Margaret Anderson who married David Melvin Craig on 12-19-1873 in Hancock County, IN. These are my great great grandparents. Their daughter Clara was my great grandmother. I have good information on David, but have been unable to verify anything I have found thus far on Margaret or her parents. An elderly cousin told me Margaret was a granddaughter to Chief Anderson, but so far I can't find her parents or siblings, let alone grandparents. Do you have anything on Margaret? David's parents were Daniel Craig and Elizabeth Mogel. Can't find any Mogel's anywhere either. If you can help, that would be wonderful. Will share my Craig information! 2. Hello Fellow Craig Listers: I have shared and exchanged info with fellow lister, Greg Craig, this past month; but thought I would post what my Craig line consists of as I still have several gaps to fill .... My g g g g g grandfather: David Craig UEL Loyalist David Craig born October 1749 (Paisley, Scotland) died: 1833 St. Andrews, Charlotte County, New Brunswick at age 84 married : Mary Steele b. May 1758 Their Children: #1:) Janet born - December 24, 1779 Miachias, Maine married Dugald Carmichael (10 known children) #2.) David born - May 1782 married Sarah Bonny (2 known children: James and Joel) James married: Martha Jamieson *Sarah Bonny has sister named Elizabeth.....* #3.) Elizabeth Craig - born September 1784 married David McFarlane ?? Russell #4.) James Craig born September 1989 married Charlotte Walker #5.) John Craig born September 1791 #6.) Mary Craig born May 1794 married Thomas Sime #7.) Martha Craig born December 1797 married: William Gow #8.) Allen Craig born November 1805 Married: Louis Handy * * * * Footnote: My g g g g g grandfather David Craig served as a UEL 1977-1784 in the Old Argyll Highlanders 74th Regiment. Click here: Disbanded 74th Regt. Among those listed at the link above, is Molly Craig. I am not sure who Molly Craig is (maybe David's wife, Mary Steele was called Molly, as Molly is a variation of both the name Mary and Margaret) ... but the children, Janet and David, are indeed David's and are hardly "over 10 years old" as the roll call indicates they should be 10 yrs. Old or older to be mentioned on the list! Young David would hardly be 2 years old at the disbanding of the 74th and Janet (who was their oldest, is just 4 1/2 yrs old at that time.) Perhaps the children's names were just given (when asked if any children accompanied them to St. Andrews and David, nor Mary paid any attention to the names to be listed as being limited to 10 years old or older) ... Looking forward to establishing a connection!! ToutJourPrest! Barbara Ann Carmichael Banks Minneapolis, Minnesota e-mail: babanks@aol.com

2. Hi Lynne, Do you know anything about the ancestry of your David CRAIG? This is a long shot, but I have a David CRAIG in my family tree that looks to be of the right age to have had a child in 1869. His first cousin, James CRAIG, was married in Philadelphia. Both men were first cousins once removed of my gggrandfather, another James CRAIG, who had emigrated from Londonderry, Ireland, to Philadelphia in about 1825. On the other hand, none of the women in the family are named Elizabeth, although there are several Lizzies and Lizas. 3. Hi Jean I've seen the name of the loyalist , James Craig and I would be interested in any of his descendants . My g-g-grandfather was a JOHN HUGH CRAIG born in 1849 . I know that his father was a JOHN CRAIG , unfortunately the father died the same year the son was born and I haven't been able to place the first JOHN with the right family . I know that he married an ELIZABETH KERR in 1848 and she was born in 1826 , so he was probably born in the 1820's or maybe a little earlier . So I'm still looking for a connection in New Brunswick for my guy .
