    1. [CRAIG-L] Andrew Craig from Ireland b approx 1710
    2. Hi Cousins, I am new to the Craig's root line. My mother's maiden name was Craig. I am searching for her ancestors and have hit a major road block. I am hoping someone out there is related. **In order, my mother was Betty Craig. She was born in Nov 1918. She had 5 siblings. They were all born in Clark County, Springfield, Ohio. **Her father was Foster J Craig b 1894 also in Springfield (mom Goldie Fern Nave) **Foster's father was Harry Craig (who was a twin to Harley Craig) born 2 Nov 1865. They had half siblings (different mom) named Owen, Willie and Fannie. All born and died in Springfiled. **Harry's father was William Craig born Oct 1840 and died 1897, both in Springfield. William had siblings named John, Jasper and Margaret. **Their father was Robert Craig born 1799 (but I do not know where) but he died in Springfield in 1850. Robert had two brothers (Andrew b 1801 and Alexander b 1805) **Robert's father was James Craig. He was born in 1753, I believe around Chester, New Hampshire. He died in 1829, in Springfield. His brother, John, b 1758 also died in Springfield. They both served in the Revoluntionary War out of Concord New Hampshire. I know that my Uncle John had a daughter Anna, who married Lewis Skillings. From there, I am lost. I have read that James' and John's dad was Andrew Craig who was born approx 1710 in Ireland and died in 1776 on retreat from Canada during the war. His father may have been Alexander Craig, an early New Hampshire settler....but I have no proof. Does any of this sound familiar? Would love to hear from cousins!!! Marianne in Phoenix Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

    1. Re: [KYMORGAN-HISTORY-L][VAAUGUST-L][CRAIG-L]
    2. While I have no info to help you with the query, your CRAIG connections are of interest. I am desc from another Robert CRAIG (1744-1842), son of David, who lived first in Lancaster Co PA, then Washington Co VA (Abingdon). According to family legend, David CRAIG emigrated with his BROTHERS, possibly John, Thomas and William, but they quickly went their separate ways. This Robert, after being a Capt in the Pa militia, may have been in Abingdon at the time of the Battle of Kings Mountain (1781), but may NOT have been. (There are several others CRAIGs, including a Robert who were.) WHERE in Northern Ireland did you find CRAIG graves? David CRAIG apparently came over with/through the EWINGs and may have come from the vicinity of Coleraine, as they did. (Any EWINGs tied up with your kin?) Robert CRAIG was a first or second cousin of the numerous EWINGs of PA, MD and VA. John ANDREWS

    2. Anyone out there in Morgan Co., KY or Augusta Co., VA related to the Nickell or Craig families? My father is Robert Isaac Craig, Sr., born 1909 in Illinois My grandfather is Ollie Cortez Craig, born 1890 in Illinois My great grandfather is Robert Wiley Craig, born 1860 in Illinois My great great grandfather is Isaac Nickles Craig, born 1831 in Illinois ----(Note: This grandfather was named after his uncle, Isaac Nickles Craig, born 1810 in KY) My ggg grandfather is William Daniel Craig, born 1804 in Kentucky My gggg grandfather is Robert Craig, born 1781 in Virginia ----(Note: This grandfather married Elizabeth Nickell, born 1784 in VA, the daughter of Isaac Nickell, born 1851 in VA and Margaret Curry) My ggggg grandfather (possibly but not proven) is William Craig, born 1745 in Augusta Co., VA, died 1829 in Augusta Co., VA. He married (1) Elizabeth Nickell 1764 in Augusta Co., VA., daughter of John Nickell and Barbara McCombe. He married (2) Sarah Elledge 1809 in KY ----(Note: IF THIS IS TRUE and since Isaac Nickell's parents are also John Nickell and Barbara McCombe, then my Robert Craig b.1781 married his 1st cousin, Elizabeth Nickell b.1784) The Craigs and Nickells(Nickles) have always been "close". I have found both buried together in Northern Ireland. Looking for help proving the above connection. My husband's g-grandmother was Mary Craig, who was too young to remember her father, as he apparently died rather young. Could we be talking about the same man? 3. Enmanning: Hi cuz. My great grandfather was Nathaniel Craig, son of Leonard, younger brother of William Morgan. I, too, am interested in finding information on Leonard. There was a recent email to the Craig Line indicating Leonard was born in SC (not TN as indicated on an old census record) as was his wife, Mary (Nancy) Whitaker. I don't have a birthdate or birthplace on William Morgan, nor on his civil war record. Nathaniel enlisted in November 1861 in Tennessee - did William Morgan enlist same time? Would appreciate info on your family. So would Betty Huggins at bettyh@HiWAAY.net and Mary Lea at marylea@earthlink.net. They have done extensive work on Leonard Craig's family but, like we, haven't had much luck going back earlier. 3. I too am a Craig descendant and a born again Christian, and having buried my 42 year old husband after 19 years of marriage and being left alone with 2 very young children can without question attest to the power of the Lord and the power of prayer. I have no problem with Bud posting a prayer request, or anyone else for that matter. What I would respectfully request however is that responses of prayer offered and thank you's for those prayers be dealt with privately. As a working mom my time on genealogy research is limited. 1. [CRAIG-L] book: Craigs of Goulbourn and North Gower
    2. I just got my copy of Tuttle Book's latest catalog of genealogies and they have a copy of CRAIGS of Goulbourn and North Gower, by james B. Craig, 220 pp; photocopy; flex vinyl cover, 1929. $35.00 Perhaps someone would like to have this .... And while I'm here, I'll try once again to find some connection to my Craigs .... Here's what I know: On May 6th, 1849, Alexander Craig and Ann Cunningham, both residing in Pollokshaws Burgher Church Parish, were registered for proclamation of Banns 3 days. The above parties were married at Pollokshows on May 22, 1849 by the Rev. James C. Maclaurin, Minister, Will Sewell, Session Clerk. (From the old parochial registers now in the custody of the Registrar General in Edinburgh). In 1851, Alexander Craig (head of household, aged 22, bleacher, born Eastwood, Renfrewshire) and Ann Craig (his wife, aged 25, powerloom weaver, born Paisley Renfrewshire) were living at 16 Harriet Street, Pollokshaws. I believe they had five children, all born in Scotland: William Cunningham Craig, born 20 Sep 1854, at 5 Queen Mary Street, christened 17 Dec 1854 James MacDougall Craig, born 14 Nov 1857 (or possibly 1851), d. 1922 North Andover, MA Elizabeth Craig, born 30 Mar 1859, at 37 Dale Street, Bridgeton, christened 1 June 1859 Ann Craig, born 29 Jan 1862, at 243 Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow, christened 13 Apr 1862 Alexander Craig, born 3 Dec 1864, at 9 Dunn Stret, Glasgow, christened 5 Feb 1865 Four of the christenings were recorded at the London Road United Presbyterian Church, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland. Alexander (father) was employed as a stoker, fireman, or porter at the time of the christenings. In 1881, Ann Craig, 56, housekeeper, was widowed and living at 3 Newhall Street, Barony, Lanark, Scotland, with daughter Elizabeth Craig, age 22, occupation Cotton Weaver, unmarried at the time of the 1881 census. In 1891, Ann Craig, head of house, widow, aged 65, housekeeper, born Paisley, Renfrewshire, Elizabeth (her daughter, unmarried, aged 32, weaver, born Glasgow), and Alexander (her son, aged 26, general labourer, unemployed) were living at 43 Adelphi Street in Bridgeton. James MacDougall Craig married Ellen Wilson (born 16 Jan 1860 Scotland, died April 13, 1938, Stafford Springs, CT) in Scotland and they came to the United States in 1880. One of his sisters (probably Ann) married Alexander Peacock in Scotland (they had no children). She was in the United States (working at the Nevins Home in Methuen, MA) when her brother James MacDougall Craig died in 1922, but she went back to Scotland sometime later. When James MacDougall Craig died on 1922, his brother Alexander was still alive in Scotland. Still looking for anyone related in any way! Kay Gleason great-granddaughter of James MacDougall Craig
