    3. Hello list, I am new to this list. I am trying to trace relatives of my late wife's first husband. He was a Joseph Douglas Moock whose mother was Lillian Marie Craig b. April 10, 1898, I understand in Knoxville, TN. Her father whose given name is unknown to me was born on a reservation in Tennessee and was a full blooded Cherokee Native American. He died before December 03, 1921. He married ? (Unknown) who was the daughter of an English Minister, name and denomination unknown. Besides Lillian Marie, he had 3 other children: F. (I believe a male); Viola and Mary Craig. Lillian died in Huntington, Suffolk County, NY on January 31, 1981. I know this is sparse information and may not be enough to lead me to Lillian's father, but I am in hopes it will. Lillian's great grandchildren, two young females carry the 1/16th Cherokee blood and is the reason for my search. Thanking you in advance for any information that is possible to send. 3. Craig Cousins, I'm still stuck on my branch of the Craig family. I'm looking for any connections to John Craig, born May 26, 1864, in the Parkersburg, WV, area (which probably means he could have been born across the river in OH), died Oct 1, 1935, in Whetsell Settlement, WV. Married Lillie Alice McHenry while still in the Parkersburg area, who was born June 15, 1861, and died May 11, 1915, also in Whetsell Settlement, WV. They are my great-grandparents. -- Cindy Craig National Geodetic Survey Project Development Branch Spatial Reference System Division 1315 East-West Highway, SSMC3-8708 Silver Spring, MD 20910-3282 Phone: 301-713-3194, ext. 106

    3. I think my gggrandfather, Leonard Craig, may have been born in South Carolina before 1820. 3. Hi Angie, I'm not really sure where my Craigs came from other than PA. I think that William Craig might have had a sister that ended up in Kansas or Oklahoma. I have two old photos that Amanda McCauley Craig (William's wife) had when she died, that were taken in Sproul and Waterville, KS. The family's last name was Bair. They had a little girl born about 1888 (she looks to be about 3 or 4 in the picture) named Ephra Genra Bair. The other photo was take a few years earlier when she was about a year old. It is of the whole family. It has to be a relative of William Craig's since I have alot of information on Amanda and none of her family ended up in Kansas that I know of. If anyone on this list has a Bair/Craig connection, please let me know. The identity of the family in the picture is driving me crazy!! 3. Dear Craigs, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I am writing about a Matilda Craig that is not of mine line - just discovered/confirmed the whereabouts of my Mysterious Matilda Craig yesterday and am thrilled to report I now am in phone contact with distant relatives - the Dynes of Columbia, Wisconsin. I will not give my details at the moment - having yet to make a Craig connection here since mine came from Antrim in 1849 to NYC and then Wisconsin. Many Craig listings here are from immigration much earlier, and much of it with a Southern or Appalachian link. But earlier this year Elton Watlington of Memphis Tennessee contacted me about Matilda Craig, thinking that we might have a common collateral ancestor. My new information says we are not connected. Pastor Watlington is elderly and wants to know as much about his family as soon as possible. He will not able to research forever, although I think he will find many relatives in heaven. . .old genealogists do not die, they just get perfect documentation! I am posting his information, in the hopes that we might find his Matilda - what a Christmas gift that would be. A large Craig family emigrated from both Donegal and perhaps Antrim before the Civil War: Alexander born 1820, died 1913;and married Martha Gallagher in 1855 (Pawnee City, NE; Galena, ILL) John born 1827, never married? Belfast to IL, circa 1849, may have been in Darien? IL circa 1873 Matilda, born circa 1831 in Donegal; married Samuel Jameson Senior (perhaps his third marriage) in 1854 in Hanover, IL, died in 1883. Sarah Jane, born 1835. . . IL? . . .son named John? Seth (Well documented), born 1836 in Milford?, Donegal;married Eliza Gallagher a sister to Martha above, lived in Summerfield, KS and later Pawnee City, NE William, born circa 1839 - his mother may have been named Nancy - the older children's mother was Mary Wilson - there is some confusion about the half-sibling question among this family group, perhaps William had some children. James . . . .married Martha Shanks Irvin or Irwin. . . .children David. . . .missing in Civil War Robert. . . .died in childhood Nancy. . . . From discussion with Mr. Watlington, these Craigs were like most Craigs from Ireland, Protestant. Whether or not they stayed Presbyterian during the moves is not clear, but likely did not convert to Catholicism. (My Craigs are mixed R. Catholic and Presby. In the same generation.) You can reply to me here, or write Elton A. Watlington 1226 S. Prescoot St. Memphis, TN 38111 I do think that I am likely to be related distantly to Mr. Watlington through Northern Ireland - Matilda was the name of my ancestor "Widow Dinsmore" (Dunsmore?) of Galdanagh, near Dunloy in County Antrim, N. Ireland. Any Matilda watchers out there? Sincerely, Marybeth Shea (William Craig was my great great grandfather - 1837-1921 IRE>NYC>WI>MO>SD) -----Original Message----- From: Teresa Geiger [mailto:mariakhristina@juno.com] Sent: Wednesday, December 20, 2000 12:12 PM To: CRAIG-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CRAIG-L] William Craig 1859-1928-PA Merry Christmas Everyone, I am trying to find the parents of my great-great grandfather William K. 3. Oh, no contrary info...I have Emmet's info as well and the Alderman book...but didn't recall that...I've not seen Charolette (sure that isn't Charlotte?) Jane Ellington book... Also seems to me that I've seen that the Rogers name was also connected to the name Timberlake back in the early days... 3. Hi Teresa, This a long shot, but I will try anyway. My gggrandfather is Leonard CRAIG b. 15 May 1823 and married Phoebe ? b. 28 Jan 1822. I first find them on the 1850 census in White Co., Tn., then in 1860 they are in Overton Co., Tn., and then in 1870 they are in Wayne Co., Mo. I was wondering if you have any more info on your Leonard CRAIG. I am hoping Leonard might be his son. Their birth dates seem to work out. I think my Leonard was born in Tn. Anyway, I thought I would give it a try. Thanks for posting your information. May you and all our CRAIG cousins have a Holy and Blessed Christmas. Nick R.
