    3. Hi, My name is Enid Brownlie and I am trying to trace my grandfather on my mother's side. He died approximately 1909. She had two brothers who died before their father. After my grandfather died my grandmother migrated to Australia with three of her own daughters and three stepdaughters from my grandfather's previous marriage. His name was George(?) Craig and they had a farm at Clonkeen. My mother was christened in the Church of Ireland Drummaul, in the Diocese of Connor. My grandmother (Charlotte) married George Craig on the 6th December 1900 and on the certificate of marriage it gave George's father as Alexander. As it gave George's age at marriage as 30 I presume he was born approximately 1870. Unfortunately I only decided to do my family after my mother had died otherwise I could have had a lot more information to go on but I do know her two brothers had died prior to the father so they must have only been very young. I think their names were George and Samuel but I am not sure on that matter. If you can help me in this matter I would be pleased to here from you. I would like to know where (if possible) they were buried but I presume it would be the same church as my mother was christened. My son and daughter-in-law will be visiting Ireland on a quick trip later in the year so if you can assist me in this matter I would be very grateful. Greetings from Australia Enid Brownlie ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 09, 2002 1:46 AM Subject: Re: [CRAIG-L] Subject headings > Hello..Further to the "subject heading " issue. > It seems a complete waste of time....The information I have gathered..and > sent to the Craig line......If I now understand, that most people only read it > ..if it has some State or County in the subject heading. > As I have mentioned before..Craigs are all over the > world..(America..Scotland..Ireland..etc.) > We are trying to trace our Craig line..going back a few hundred > years..People do move from country to country....State to State > I make a efford to read them all..In that little hope..I will see a > connection..but as I understand...most people do not bother.......I wonder if > it all worthwile > Regards..James Alexande Craig.....Co.Antrim...N.Ireland > > >

    1. [CRAIG-L] Help finding gg-grandparents missing during Civil War.
    2. Eldon Wade
    3. Hi Folks, I really need your help. I am looking for my gg-grandparents William WADE and his wife Catharine CRAIG both b. abt. 1835 AL. William and Catharine married in 1855 in Marshall Co, AL. They had one child that I know of and he is James WADE (b. abt. 1856 in Marshall Co AL). All three appear together on the 1860 Marshall Co AL census. In 1863 a William WADE joined the 12th Alabama Cavalry, Co E at Blue Springs, AL however I have not been able to prove or disprove that this is my William. The service record for this William WADE does not have any details. I cannot find my William or Catharine after the 1860 Marshall Co AL census. Their son James appears on the 1870 Marshall Co AL census living with his grandmother Nancy Whitaker CRAIG. I have confirmed that the William WADE in 1870 Cleburne Co AL is not my William. I understand that thousands of people died during this time period but I can't give up my efforts to find them without knowing I have exhausted all possible means to find them. Any help would be very, very appreciated. Thank you, Eldon Researching: WADE, HAMES

    1. [CRAIG-L] genealogy website owner arrested
    2. Got this from another list and thought it worth sharing. 08/03/2003 CEDAR RAPIDS Web site owner charged with ID theft A man was charged Friday with identity theft and money laundering after a police investigation into two genealogy Web sites he ran. Elias Abodeely II operated the Web sites FamilyDiscovery.com and Genseekers.com from his home. Abodeely would take e-mail addresses of people who posted to the sites' forum pages, then send the victims an offer to become a member of the Web site for a fee of $19.99 to $59.99. The offer led victims to believe they had a five-day free trial period, but they were unable to cancel their memberships. Their accounts were already debited the fee amount. Cedar Rapids police arrested Abodeely after a two-year investigation into the genealogy Web site. He also faces theft and ongoing criminal conduct charges. Police said the investigation continues, and they expect additional suspects to be charged.
