I am searching for Henrietta CRAIG, married a William CURNOW about 1868-1870, in Mo.(possibly). Her birth state is listed as MO. and in the Idaho 1870 census she was 20 years old, so probably was born in 1850 or 1851. Thank you in advance for any help. Millie

Gary Craig Thanks for the replies. I haven't decided which way to go, but it should be fairly easy to link and/or explain. I use Reunion (for Macintosh). I'm currently at version 6, but I'm about to upgrade to version 8 for OS X. Kevin

This probably sounds like a "Genealogy For Dummies" question, but here goes: how do you handle multiple surnames for one individual? Example: Joel Richard WILLIS was born out of wedlock to Nancy Cathryn WILLIS, who married David Allen DAVIS shortly after Joel's birth. David was not the biological, adoptive, or otherwise legal father, but was "Dad" by affinity. Upon turning 18, Joel legally changed his name to Joel Richard DAVIS. A reference to Joel Richard DAVIS, even with date and place of birth, will not lead to an accurate birth certificate, will it? And searching for Joel Richard WILLIS won't produce any accurate vital statistics (or death records, in the future). I ask because Joel is my brother-in-law and I'm uncertain whether to list him as WILLIS or DAVIS. And, since we can't afford adoption, my step-children are considering the same kind of name change. Thanks in advance! Kevin Craig -- Craig Team 8 A descendent of Henry CRAIG and Mary ERWIN Researching CRAIG, ROSS, PAYTON, HICKERSON, and GRAYBEAL

I have been researching this Thomas Craig family - Wife Sarah(Sallie) Bradley who Had 8 children, Gasper,Ann Zaney,Thomas, William, John, Mary,Martha, Sara Estelle, Luther . Thomas is supposed to have been born in Scotland about 1800, came to America by way of Charleston, SC and settled in western Barnwell County, SC. (This area of Barnwell County became part of Aiken County in 1871.) So far, I've only found repeated oral history. Thomas does not appear in the 1830, 1840 or 1850 census records in Barnwell County. I would welcome any knowledge of where he was. I would welcome contact with anyone who knows where his grave site is and can report whether there is a grave marker. When, where and how did he die? Only Sarah with children, John Mary and Martha are listed in the 1860 Census.

I was subscribed to this list in 1998-99, but dropped off when my father's death made continued research a bit too painful. About the same time, I lost my genealogy files in a hard drive crash, and I wasn't in much of a mood to rebuild them. Life marches on, as they say, and ironically my interest has been rekindled by not only a birth (my son, John David CRAIG (Kevin Ben CRAIG & Mary Cathryn DAVIS)), but also a death. John Ritter was my wife's cousin (through her maternal grandfather), but they never met. The two events have impressed upon us the importance of recording the family ties for our children. I am part of the Team 8 lineage, "Our CRAIG Family". I've forgotten how to format all this stuff, so please be patient as I list a few generations: me: Kevin Ben CRAIG, b. May 12 1963, DeQueen, Sevier, AR (John Lee CRAIG & Johnnie Fay ROSS) John Lee CRAIG, b. December 6 1930, Mena, Polk, AR (Harry Lloyd CRAIG & Bessie Beatrice PAYTON); d. July 16, 1999, Texarkana, Bowie, TX Harry Lloyd CRAIG, b. July 11? 1895?, ,Cass, MO (William Robert CRAIG & Mary Louise GRAYBEAL); d. December 1963, Hatfield, Polk, AR William Jackson CRAIG b. 26 Jan 1835, ,Morgan,IL Moses Henry CRAIG b. 22 Jan 1804, ,Harrison,KY John CRAIG b. 29 May 1771, ,,SC Henry CRAIG b. 1729, ,,IRE, I tried to snip the highlights from the Ahnantafel for Harry Lloyd CRAIG, but may have missed a generation or two. Anyhoo, that's my lineage. The first time I joined the list five years ago, I only knew my line as far as my great-grandfather, and no details at all. Literally within 30 minutes of my first post, Craig Beeman had provided me with a gedcom file back to 1729 in Ireland. I lost that file, but I still have all the list email from the period that I was subscribed. My email to Craig Beeman ([email protected]) bounced, and I don't see any recent posts from him in the archives. Does anyone know if he's still with us? Thanks, and I look forward to learning more. My grandfather, Edward Craig was born November 29, 1884 in Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia. He married my grandmother, Alma Gertrude Lathrop on Oct. 21, 1913 in Resaca, Gordon County Georgia. Edward Craig appears in the 1930 US Census records living in Lake Wales, FL. My grandparents divorced about 1918, and Edward Craig was pretty much written out of my family's history. My father was legally renamed. And besides that, I don't know anything about him. I don't know any Craig relatives outside of my immediate family, my father, my Aunt, and grandmother. Also, I've not confirmed that he is the Edward Craig in your message. I'd certainly like to confirm that, learn some more about my side of the Craig family. So ... anything that you have to offer would be appreciated!
