There's some difference of opinions about one grandfather not very far back but I think it's the Hungarian. And then you can't go much farther back. However Queen Margaret's lineage seems to go on farther. No, I don't think I'm from your Craigs; I picked up the trail one of my other Scottish lines. Roberta Hart Dutton, Arvada. CO

Please tell me what year that was and the names of his other wives. I have been searching and searching for my Grandmother, who divorced George A. Brown in about 1901-1904 and was supposed to have remarried, probably in Arkansas, but possibly near Joplin, Mo.

    1. [CRAIG-L] Locating a Craig member
    2. Hello, I came across a old listing and was wondering if this person is still online and a member or if someone could help me locate someone with this information. Listing is pasted below. Christy Date: Mon, 9 Nov 1998 23:11:32 EST From: <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Subject: [CRAIG-L] Clayton Newman Craig Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit I received the following request for help. I do not think this connects to my line. Can anyone help him? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------- Reply-to: [email protected] (WILLIAM CRAIG) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------------- Never used this before so please excuse. I'm looking for the Craig family which located in Warren Co., White Co., and Van Buren Counties from the Civil War onward. The sire was Clayton Newman Craig or Newman S Craig or Newman Craig. He now has about 600 decendants today. Have looked long and hard but to no avail, so if this doesen't work I'm getting a professional. He married Eda Evaline Daniel after her first husband (Asbury or Asberry ) died, had six children one of which was my grandfather ( Robert Lee Craig ). My answer to you is that I have a great number of Craig's in my tree, but they may be useless to you. Note me back, we'll see. Thanks Bill Craig

Since finding William Craig born Kansas about 1870, I have posted many messages about William and his family in hopes that I would find his children and we could exchange information. I find that my messages aren't answered most of the time. Reason being that the right clue hasn't been found by me yet to unlock the puzzle. Once that piece is found I find lots of information on the family I'm working on. Trudell Wright

    1. [CRAIG-L] Help!! Craig Mystery
    2. It is hard to search for Craig's on the other side of the "pond" when you can't even get out of the U.S. I am searching for a Craig family from Alabama with a son Newman S. Craig. I have no idea who these parents are. All I know is that Newman was born about 1822 Alabama. (1860 census shows b.Ky, 1870 and 1880 show b. Tn). He was married according to the 1860 census before he married Eda Eveline Daniel (first marriage ? Asberry), he had a daughter Louisa with his first wife. Unknown as to her where abouts. I can not get past the 1860 census. Where was he in 1850, what county in Alabama was he born, who are his parents? These are questions that I have been asking myself for about 5 years. Newman later moved to Warren Co, Tn in 1880 and after this there is no idea. Some say he is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in White Co, Tn. What happened to Eda. I don't even have her parents. If anyone out there can help me on this mystery, I would really appreciate it. Christy

This Thomas Townsend lived in that area (B-abt 1790) and is quite possibly closely tied to Moses and James Craig in some way. Also John Daniel Tounzen and Family are buried next to the Wilsons in Salem Cem in Crawford Co. I would like to know a little more about James Craig. E-mail me direct if you like. Surnames: Craig, Stewart, Keith Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4IQ.2ACEB/2341 Message Board Post: Since my discovery of the royal connection to the Craig line, some people have emailed me with questions as to how I found it. Here are links that will help prove the connection, as well as provide additional family information. Hope this helps some more. Michael ([email protected]) Muriella Keith is the wife of Robert Stewart, Prince of Scotland. That is as far back as this particular gencircles family tree goes, so I had to dig around the internet to find out who Robert's parents were. This is the link to Muriella Keith's page: http://www.gencircles.com/users/ulsterboyd1/1/data/31508 The line itself starts back with Elizabeth Lindsay, wife of William Craig. When you trace the Craig line back through Scotland, William Craig (born circa 1475-1480) is as far back as people can seem to go. Elizabeth's page on gencircles is: http://www.gencircles.com/users/ulsterboyd1/1/data/24590 This page will also tie into the Craig line for those of you who would like to search that more. To find the information on the royalty, I found two great webpages using google which covers the history of the Scottish monarchy. The pages are: http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page69.asp http://www.scotlandroyalty.org/scotland.html On the first page, if you click on The Bruces and The Stewarts, that will give you the information you need to continue the family. It provides dates as well as short blurbs about each monarch. On the second page, all of the monarchs are placed in chronological order. Fyi, Robert Stewart's father was Robert Stewart (King Robert II). He had several children, including two sons named Robert and John. It was John who succeeded his father to the throne, but because he had the same name as a previous king who was not well liked, he changed his name to Robert and became Robert III, so make sure that you dont' confuse our Robert Stewart (Prince of Scotland) with King Robert III.

I only know she married LOUIS AUGUSTE BRUCHARD on July 29, 1850 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Glascow. They had one daughter in Kensington, England (Catherine Constance Bruchard), then moved to Crepey en Valois, France, where Catherine died in infancy & my gr-grandmother Maria Constance Bruchard was born. She came to NYC...and the rest is history!

I would get little satisfaction in having a professional researcher do the work for me. I was able to trace my wife's ancestors back to Neil Craig who was born in 1833 on Rathlin Island and left for America in 1854. As I trace each leg of the family back, all to Europe and most to the UK, I am forced to let that portion sit idle and fill in the gaps that are closer to us. I hope to be able to continue by making the trip to various countries and cities in the UK at a later date. Who are the brothers that you are looking for in America?
