Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/4IQ.2ACEB/2395 Message Board Post: If you have descendents buried in FERN HILL CEMETERY, outside the western Owensboro, Ky. city limits, please contact me. This is the Bon Harbor Hills area, and not to be confused with the Lancaster Cemetery also located in Bon Harbor Hills. Known burials in this cemetery occured between abt.1897-abt. 1945. Many farm workers and coal miners who lived and worked in this area were buried here. This cemetery is in the process of being cleaned up and documented for the Kentucky Historical Society. I have posted known burials on the rootsweb cemetery site, but there are many unmarked graves here. This is a one acre cemetery, and clean-up is showing that there are some 'buried' tombstones that we haven't righted yet. There is no way I can research every Daviess County Death record to see if a person was buried at Fern Hills Cemetery, and from judging from the many un-marked graves in this cemetery, there could be anywhere from 20-50 unknown's there... Most of these families were poorer, [mine included] so that probably accounts for many not having a tombstone. So, check your ancestors death records, and check with family members to see if you have family members buried in this cemetery. Help me to document this cemetery and your families burial spot for the Historical Society, so that the cemetery and our families spirit will never be lost to generations to come. Thank you, Judy
