He is the great great grandson of Major Jacob Wolf of Norfork, AR. His mother was Georgia A. Wolf daughter of Asa M. and Sarah (Adams) Wolf both born in AR but migrating to Texas where Sarah died. Asa remarried and eventually ended up in IT about 1886. I do NOT know what happened to the Craig husband and father but M. Lee Craig is listed as a stepson in the houshold of his mother and her second husband John E. Atteberry in Atoka County, OK for the 1900 census. Mezzeppa is found on Stephens County 1910 census with wife and one son and then on 1920 Pottawatamie Co census with wife and three sons. These two oldest sons are found in the same county census for 1930 but in the household of their Atteberry grandparents. I cannot trace any of them any further except the oldest son, Dawson Vernon Craig does have a SS death entry as living in Cleveland Co and dying in 1977. If you can! give me any clue as to someone to contact for information on this family, I would appreciate it. [email protected]

John married Georgia A. Wolf, daughter of Asa M. Wolf and Sarah Adams, 22 Dec 1898, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. Georgia was also known as "Nettie". I believe she had four children by Mr. Craig; however, M. Lee Craig was the only one to survive to be enumerated in the 1900 census. Lee was enumerated in the Chickasaw Nation in 1900; Duncan, Stephens, Oklahoma, in 1910; and Shawnee, Pottawatomie, Oklahoma, in 1920. You're right, M. Lee Craig had a half sister, Precious Jewel Atteberry Green, but he also had a half brother, John Quincy Atteberry.
Kailani, I just reread your e-mail. It says that James and Elizabeth (Crawford) Craig were from VA. Please disregard the question in my previous e-mail. Do you know where in VA they were from? If not, have you investigated Montgomery Co., Washington Co., Smyth Co., and Wythe Co. as possibilities? Lee Anne
I don't know enough yet to know. I'll keep the information you gave me in mind. Where in VA was your Jane Craig born? Hi List, I am new to this list, and would like to share with you the names of the people I'm searching for. I have an old letter written in 1920, by a lady (I think she signed it "MATTIE" or "MOLLIE". The letter was written by a Mattie/Mollie LYON, to her sister, Mary GEE, who lived in Holden, Johnson Co., Missouri. The return name and address on the envelope says "Mrs. H. M. LYON, Greensburg, Kansas. (Greensburg is in Kiowa Co). This letter concerns the family ancestry of Mattie LYON. Evidently her sister, Mary/Minnie GEE, had inquired about birth dates of their father, mother, brothers and sisters. These family members were CRAIG'S, whose only known CRAIG ancestor came early, on a ship from Ireland to America. While he was in America, he broke his leg. The ship he was to return to Ireland in, had already sailed, so he stayed in America, married, and had a family. This would have been about the 1600 or 1700's. My g-grandmother, Margaret Angeline Craig STEWART, was a sister to Mattie/Mollie Craig LYON and Mary Craig GEE. There were also brothers mentioned in the letter, named William CRAIG, born in 1833, John CRAIG, and Tom CRAIG. The father was Louis?Lewis CRAIG/KREGG. Louis Craig was born about June 1809, near Wheeling, West Virginia. Louis's parents had a large family. When he was about three, the family moved to Kentucky. From there, Louis moved to Illinois, since I know his daughter, my g-grandmother, Margaret Angeline CRAIG (STEWART), was born in Illinois on 4 December 1858. I don't know where in Illinois. If any of these people sound familiar, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance, Dee, in Arizona
