    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: SusanLairdNorth Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.craig/4548.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I hope this helps out a little bit. I'm sending this along with the .jpg images to your email address. It appears that Mary Elizabeth's mother died sometime between 1870 and 1880. On the 1880 census William Craig was still living at the same location, remarried with more children. I believe Mary Elizabeth Craig's mother's name was Catharine Mitchell. There is a marriage record (located in the Marriage Bonds of Franklin County, Virginia 1786-1858) "Craig, Wm. and Catherine Mitchell, Nov 27, 1841. Sur. Wm. S. Mitchell. 132." Viewing the handwritten census records will give you a lot more information than what is outlined below. 2. Diane Graham
    3. Good Morning, I am new to this list, and interested in the Craig family who came very early to Bucks County Pennsylvania, There seems to have been 4 sons of William Craig of Scotland, and several daughter as well. The son's were Thomas, Daniel, James and William. I am trying to determine the names of the daughters of William Craig of Scotland. (the sisters of the 4 immigrant brothers) Two of the daughters (sisters) may have been Margaret and Jane. Can any fill in the names of the other girls? Thank you for any help with this. Diane, in Iowa

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: KSMaynard Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.craig/4549/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This will be of interest to any Craigs whose families may have resided at one time in the Commonwealth of Virginia, even back to colonial days. The online UVA Library has a marvelous search engine and I have used it to research land patents, military service records, maps, vitals, etc. There is an amazing collection of Craig material in their archives. Also terrific if you're trying to trace those early Craigs who received land patents in VA, WV, KY for services in the colonial military. Here's the URL. You'll have to paste it back together because it will undoubtedly be split in two when I post it. http://ajax.lva.lib.va.us/F/?func=file&file_name=find-b-clas30&local_base=CLAS30 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: KSMaynard Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.craig/4546/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm seeking information on the family of Agnes Craig who married John Gilliland in Scotland in 1685. Son Samuel Gilliland was born Scotland 1694. These are my ancestors. My Gillilands and Craigs were covenanters sent to Northern Ireland. Sometime after the birth of Samuel's son Nathan in 1720 the family came to America and were among the first settlers of Augusta County, Virginia. My confirmed records for this family in Augusta County date to 1745. I have three possible lineages for Agnes but cannot pinpoint/confirm any one line. I would really appreciate some help with this! I wonder if my Agnes Craig might also be related to other pioneering Craigs who settled in Augusta County and SW Virginia.
