IF Samuel's boys ever moved to NC, I haven't found a record. Have you checked Iredell and Rowan Co., NC, where JOHN COWDEN, son of Matthew Cowden of Paxtang, PA settled? I don't remember all of his children, but that is a possibility, too. Walter Cowden was in Hanover Co., VA 1786-1788, possibly til 1791. I have a copy of Walter & Samuel Cowden's estate record. The will of Samuel Cowden was proven as follows: "The Last Will and Testament of Samuel Cowden, deceased , was proved in open court by the Oath of Robert Harris, Esqr., an Evidence thereto. Appointing Walter Cowden and James Harris Executors of same. It appearing to the Court that the Said Walter Cowden is since deceased and that James Harris hath relinquished his Right of Executorship, Ordered by the Court that Letter[s] of Administration Issue to Robert Harris, Esqr., Senr., with a copy of the will annexed who came into court and Qualified and offered for his Security Edward Giles, Esqr., and bound in the sum of 150 lbs [Mecklenburg Co., N.C. Will Book- A page 168]. Ordered that Letters of Administration issue to Robert Harris, Esqr., Senr., on the Estate of Walter Cowden, deceased, who offered for his Secry. Edward Giles, Esq., bound as above and Sworn accordingly." [Mecklenburg County, NC Minutes of the Court of Common Pleas and Quarter Sessions, 1780-1800, by Herman W.
