MO d. 26, Aug. 1928 ( Doe Run/Farmington) St Francois CO., MO. He married Martha A. Short 4,Jan.1866 at St Francois CO. Did you know that John and his family moved to Lodi, WI after the Civil War? What I was told was that he left Greene CO., MO after the war because of trouble with some of the towns people because he was Union. By 1880 they were back in MO, but in Perry Twp. St.Joe Lead Mines St Francois CO. This was very near where his brothers relocated and married. From there they ended up, as far as I know, in St. Joseph, MO. I'll have to look in Ida Lancaster's Long Hunter book that I have. There was a short entry in there about John. I have a copy of a bill of sale from William Scaggs to his son William from 1861. His wife had died in 1859 in Pond Creek twp. Greene CO, MO. His youngest child was living with John & Elizabeth. I have lost William after that.. I do have some pictures of John's siblings that I would like to share with you, or anyone who is interested. I hope I have been able to help you alittle bit.
