Thomas years later married a Nancy Crews, fathering a total of at least 11 children. Leonard was first married to a Margaret, about whom little is known, and later to Mary Catherine Thomas. My great-granddfather, Henry Leonard Cowden, was the son of Leonard and Mary Catherine. Henry married Clarissa Clementine Williams, and they left Northwest Arkansas during the Civil War settling in Texas. Several of their children, however, returned to the area during Reconstruction.
