My records show that Margaret Cowan was born in Drum, County Cavan, Ireland. Do you have records showing that the Cowan family is from Scotland? Their October 18 1850 marriage was in Inveresk, Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, so presumably she moved from Ireland to Scotland sometime before her twentieth birthday.
