Her GFather was David Cowan born in Leitrim, Ireland in 1811. He moved to Carleton County, Gloucester Twsp.near Ottawa, Ont. The location where they settled was named Cowansville. When the family including my GFather, Thomas Elgin Cowan made application for a post office they had to change the name to Leitrim Ont to avoid confusion with Cowansville in Quebec. I am looking for anyone in this family tree
