    1. [COWAN-L] Re: William Baxter Cowan / Cora Young
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Cowan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DMQ.2ACIB/362.1 Message Board Post: John Henry Cowan was born on July 30, 1852 and died Nov. 14, 1923. Nancy Marina Campbell was bor July 11, 1856 and died April 7, 1939 They are both buried in the Alexander Cemetery in Stratton, DeWitt county, Texas. Together they had four children that I know of. William Baxter Cowan Sr. was born on May 12, 1881and died October 27,1945. He is also buried in the Alexander Cemetery. Mary Jack (Mamie) Cowan was born in Honey Grove, Texas on October 27, 1885 and died on November 13, 1965. She married Thomas Claude Graham and they had 4 children together. She is my great-grandmother. Mamie and Tom Claude are buried in Austin, Texas. Hattie Talmadge Cowan was born August 30, 1897. She married Thomas Clinton Smith and they had 3 children together: Thomas Clinton Smith Jr., Elliott Marek Smith, and "Sticks" Smith (Nobody in my family seems to know what Sticks' real name is.) Thomas and Hattie died in California and I don't know what happened to their children. I believe the other child was named Jim or James and had a middle initial of M. (I don't recall where I got this from) Cora Ann Young married William Baxter Cowan Sr. She is also buried in Alexander Cemetery but I think she was remarried after William's death. Her tombstone lists a last name of Burcher. I have pictures of all of the family tombstones in Alexander Cemetery as well as the one for Mamie (Cowan) Graham and William Baxter Cowan IV. Let me know if you would like them and I can e-mail them to you. That is all I have time for right now. Hope this helps. If you have any specific questions you can e-mail me at [email protected] and I will answer as best I can.
