Thought that you all would be interested in hearing that I have heard back from Ethan and he confirmed that the Ames Collection was called that due to the papers belonging to his mother and grandmother. I have introduced him to genetic genealogy and he share that back before WWII the name was Cohen and that it was changed. I told him that we would still love for him to join our 55 samples and see if we could verify the information. He has gotten a lot of attention from the article and was very prompt with his reply. It took me two times looking to find him, but a total of about 30 mins and I had what I needed to contact him!!! Computers spoil you very quickly!!!! We will see what else he tells us - there appears to be no lost Bible records or lost Cowan information in that 200 years worth of papers.
