Gary and Rosemary (and List), I was elated to see your mention of Cowan, Wythe County VA, Washington County, VA and Claiborne Co, TN all in two consecutive messages! I've been looking forever for a family for my Rebecca Cowan, b. 1806 in VA, who married 22 Feb 1831 in Wythe Co, VA, Furney Jones, b. 1807 in VA. Rebecca Cowan and Furney Jones lived in Washington Co, VA til the mid 1850's when they moved to Claiborne Co TN where they lived til their deaths. It's very tempting to believe there is a connection between Gary's James Cowan, b. 1780, living in Wythe County and Rosemary's Elizabeth Cowan of Wythe Co. who moved to Claiborne Co, TN. Too many coincidences!!?? Could James and Margaret Cowan be Rebecca's parents? Do you have the names of the rest of their children?
