I just did a search in the Cowan Archives for a topic that I know should have been in them and could not locate the exchange. Has anyone else found this to be a problem??? Anyway, I did come across some posts that are from what has become lurkers. <g> Many of you post one time and I never see another post form you!!! If the archives is eating some of our messages, then we need to post our family lines, etc. several times a year!!!!<g> I also looked at the list of members and I am embarrassed to say that I as Cowan List Manager do not know what family lines you are researching or who you are from your e-mail address!!! So if I don't know who you are researching then very few on the list do and we can't keep your Cowan line in mind if you don't post it every now and then. <g> So lets do a round of posting our family lines for the 1st quarter in 2002!!!! I use to print this type of post and take it to the library with me and keep it in a special mailbox so I could match researchers - well, I haven't seen much of that type of info lately. I'm descended from Henry Cowan who died in early 1829 in Rockingham County. There's the usual story of his having been born in Scotland and come with his family as a young boy, with the parents dying at sea. I haven't been able to prove his family line, although I've seen contradictory information floating around the internet. I'd love to find Cowan cousins. Henry married Temperance Armistead in 1781 and had nine children who married into the Pickering, Farmer, Loker, Laymon, Kizer, McIntosh, Strickler, Blosser, Trevey, and Wallace families.
