Thanks Laura for prompting us to post our lines again. My Peter Cowen is posing a huge problem for those of us researching him as family tradition tells us there was a name change. We don't know what the original name was for sure, or when the change occurred, but it began with a "K", possibly "Khius, Kius, Kowen, Koen" etc. Peter's wife, Polly was born in North Carolina in 1789 and even though his birth place was listed as Georgia, he may have been in North Carolina at some time. He first appeared in Logan (later Warren, then Simpson) County, KY about 1805 when he began buying land on Drake's Creek and the Red River. He died in Simpson County in 1835 and his family then moved to Hickory County, Missouri.
