Her parents were William Cowan and Christina Grierson. My G grandmother Lillias had 2 children before she met my G grandfather, namely Christina Cowan who emmigrated to Westchester NY in 1892. I found her in the 1923 census for Westchester NY (the Bronx), but its like she dissapeared of the face of the earth. I don't know if she got married or died or whatever. My ancestors from my parents back are from Scotland. Our Cowans are from Larbert, Sterlingshire, Scotland. I hope that www.automatedgeneology.com can help you. You need to know the county in which Ottawa ON is located, then that makes your Cowans easier to find. When I was searching the Cowan message board, I saw an obituary for a Cowan in Vancouver BC. aybe they are some relatives of yours, but I can't remember what page they were on.
