    1. Re: [COWAN-L] Wm. Aaron Cowan, and a Bible
    2. Cindy, Thank you for solving a mystery for me!! The Bible you mentioned in your last post was purchased for $5.00 by Samuel Cowan in 1805 in Knoxville, Tennessee. It went west with Minerva Cowan and ended up in Michigan with Thomas Riegel, a descendant of Samuel Cowan. I never knew Samuel's father was Andrew Cowan of Augusta County, Virginia and a son of one of the seven brothers discussed in Cowan's from County Down (which should be re-titled, Cowans from Counties Derry and Donegal) Just as a point of interest, the Bible was given to me by Mrs. Riegel and now resides in North Carolina, safely in the hands of the 6th great grandson of Samuel Cowan, killed by Indians on the Clinch in 1776 and married to yet another Walker. Regards, Robert Cowan North Carolina by way of Scotland, Derry, Pa., Va., Tn. Alabama and other interesting places
