My Cowan ancestor is: Margaret Leanne COWAN who died March 25, 1859 in Oklahoma. Margaret Leanne COWAN was the daughter of Stephen COWAN (1825-1907) and Elizabeth LONG (1828-1908). Elizabeth Long was the daughter of Solomon LONG (ca 1805-) and Elizabeth BYFORD. I'm not certain of Solomon Long's parents, however he had a brother named Esquire "Squire" Long born about 1804 who married one Malinda BYFORD May 4, 1829 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Malinda Byford was the daughter of John BYFORD (1770-1850) and Oma MADTEN. Stephen Cowan was the son of Samuel COWAN (ca 1772-ca 1831) and Sarah Margaret KEITH. Margaret Leanne Cowan (daughter of Stephen Cowan and Elizabeth Long) married Jesse Edward GLENN (1848-1902). The Glenns were from Ireland/Scotland/England and from there to South Carolina, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.
