Surnames: Cowan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DMQ.2ACIB/859.2.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I would like to know more about my ancestry. I have limited information due to loss of contact with my father many years ago. I know that my grand father's name is Paul Cowan and he lives in Wyandotte, MI. I know that my grandfather's family came from Ireland, but that is about all I know. I am 26 so I would guess that my grandfather is about 78 or 80 maybe. I don't really have any clue on where to start for information so if anyone knows anything about this family, etc please don't hesitate to email me.

    3. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/rw/hurricanekatrina2005 The aftereffects of Hurricane Katrina, which hit several U.S. states recently, will be felt for some time. This message board has been created to enable you to post inquiries about your loved ones, friends, neighbors, and "genie friends" who may have been in harm's way. Hopefully, when they are able to get online, they will post here to let us know they are OK and to share their stories of survival. Queries and news about archives, libraries, repositories, cemeteries, and other items of genealogical interest are also appropriate for this board. Offers to help the victims of the hurricane should be directed the appropriate agencies, such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, religious groups, etc. Any messages which are off-topic for this board, go beyond its scope, or foster bigotry or hatred toward any ethnic group, religion, or nationality, will be removed promptly with no warning. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/board/rw/hurricanekatrina2005

    1. David Gass & William Cowan ... how were they brothers in law?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DMQ.2ACIB/1141 Message Board Post: Have found references this weekend in the VA State Library where either David Gass or one of Daniel Boone's sons states that William Cowan was DAVID GASS' brother in law. Someone had hypothicized it was another Walker daughter, but the Walkers are so well documented, I don't think so. And anyway, if David Gass married a Walker (and William Cowan married Jane Walker) that wouldn't make the men brothers in law, would it? It would make the "sisters" sisters in law, right? Or am I confused? So did David marry a sister of William Cowan? Or ... did a sister of David's marry a Cowan? Any help will be MOST appreciated!!!! (To Dan Welch ... you mention William Cowan bought David Gass' house ... can you point me to records for such????) Many thanks to all.
