    1. [COWAN-L] William Riley Cowan
    2. Sandra Price
    3. William Riley COWAN was born on 6 Oct 1828, m. Zillah Louisa MABRAY 14 Dec 1847, had eight children and lived and worked a farm (in Spadra) near Clarksville, Johnson Co., AR. He died of small pox on 28 May 1865, while serving in the Civil War. He was a very close friend and neighbor to Philip MABRAY (brother of Zillah) who died 24 Oct 1861, cause unknown. After searching fruitlessly for the grave of Philip MABRAY for many years it suddenly dawned on me that his good friend and neighbor Wm. COWAN is perhaps buried in the same cemetery, as they both died on land adjoining one another in Spadra, just three and a half years apart. Does anyone know where William Riley COWAN rests??????? Thanks. 2. One actually "pulls" a proper pint of Guinness which is a process that takes about 2-3 minutes. The bartender fills the glass slowly to about 75% of capacity and then sets it on the bar. Stupid tourists sometimes reach for the glass at this point and become subject to ridicule from the locals. One must wait patiently for the Guinness to "work" and develop the beautiful, rich creamy head that stays intact during the entire drinking experience. After a couple minutes the watchful eye of the bartender determines it is time to finish the pint and fill the glass to its entirety. He then looks at you, usually without speaking and you both share a moment, knowing that perfection is within reach and all is well with the world. Regards, Robert Cowan Guinness is your friend
