    3. It has come to my attention, as a result of a private exchange, that there are some newbies on the list who may not be aware of two Covey resources. One is a two volume set of books by Mary Lancaster Quist. It's called the "Ancestors and descendants of Walter Covey Dutchess County, New York (1750-1824)". There is a copy at the Family History Center in Salt Lake, but I don't believe they have microfilmed it. I have a set but unfortunately do not have the time to do lookups. I believe there are at least one or two others on the list who have copies of the books. See seperate post regarding my interpretation of the early generations. [Unfortunatly, there are some missing links in the books that don't answer who is the father of William Covey of Butternuts, Otsego, NY. (18 Jun 1765 - 19 Oct 1845), though there is a connection as one of the Kingsburys and one of the Hopes were in there for awhile too. I suspect that John COVEY (b.1717 d.1818??) is either the father or grandfather, though there are a few other candidates as well. See seperate post.] The other resource is one of a query nature, the Covey GenForum page. It can be found at: http://genforum.familytreemaker.com/covey/ I don't follow it myself (no time), as personally, I prefer the list rather than deliberatly seeking out queries on the web. However, there may be people out there who are posting to that, who don't like mailing lists, so there are probably queries there that aren't on this list. -- Kathryn Rhinehart Bassett (Pasadena CA) kathryn.bassett@switchboard.net "Genealogy is my bag" "GH is my soap" http://pw2.netcom.com/~kathrynb/kathryn.htm ICQ World-Wide-Pager address http://wwp.mirabilis.com/17663458
