As I was trying to figure out the father of William Covey of Butternuts, Otsego, NY. (18 Jun 1765 - 19 Oct 1845), I spent some time interpreting the information in the Quist books (mentioned in Covey Resources posting). In the below info, I have put the Quist ID numbers and page references for these early generations. I've also put in the possibles and impossibles for the parentage of Wm. Based on my analysis, I suspect that John COVEY (b.1717 d.1818??) is either the father or grandfather, though there are a couple other candidates in here too. Hopefully some day, someone will find more that will prove or disprove my theory. Don't be concerned with the RN and ID numbers, I just didn't want to take time to edit them out.
